Is Demba Ba welcome at Chelsea?

|

Britain Soccer FA CupDemba Ba was brought to Chelsea in January for slim fee of just £7m. His half season there was relatively unsuccessful netting only 2 goals in 14 appearances for the Blues. After having such a successful time with Newcastle, it is surprising that he was not able to carry over his finishing ability. On reason for this may be his lack of confidence.

Some players do not perform well with big clubs because of the intense media coverage and high pressure from the fans.

However, he is still willing to stay and fight for his role. Recently, his agent stated “Demba is very happy with Chelsea… he’s happy and flattered to work with a coach like Mourinho.” (Daily Mail)

Regardless of whether he is happy at the club, with Mourinho back in charge, it is more-or-less inevitable that Chelsea are going to sign a world class striker. With Edison Cavani, Wayne Rooney and Stefan Jovetic all on the Portuguese manager’s list, it seems there will be little playing time available for Ba.

So what’s going to happen for the former-Newcastle forward? Would Ba be a good fit at a club like Borussia Dortmund?

With the likely departure of Robert Lewandowski, Jurgen Klopp will be looking at acquiring a new striker. With all the money that will be coming his way, he will be able to spend  freely this summer. Ba will be available at a relatively low cost considering he is a top level striker.

The pressure of playing for a club like Dortmund is much less, even though they were the Champions League finalists this year, they are a much smaller club then Chelsea. Ba is an option that definitely needs to be checked out this summer by German side. The 28-year-old striker will provide some leadership to a side that is very youthful and he may help guide them in what seems to be a year of rebuilding.

If Klopp is not interested then Ba may be loaned out to another Premier league team and is unlikely to have the chance to fight for trophies. West Bromwich Albion is an option, as they are losing their top scorer, Romelu Lukaku, who is heading back to Chelsea. If Ba wants to have consistent playing time and battle for trophies, he may have to rethink his career and move to a smaller club or a different league.

What do you think? Is Ba a good fit at Dortmund, or should he stay to fight for his place at Chelsea?

If Torres was given the chance, why not ba? You people only talk about the league.what about the other goals he scored, including assists. Was he allowed more playing time? Be fair.
