When it comes to Arsenal and Steven Jovetic, the Press just can’t seem to get enough. It’s a transfer deal that has circled around and through the rumour mill on a number of occasions and it appears that the constant tattle wont stop until the Montenegrin forward puts his signature on the dotted line.
So let’s go ahead and throw another log on the fire of speculation. Sport Witness note that Jovetic informed Fiorentina over a year ago, that he wished to leave. The Serie A side now understand that should the right offer come in, they will have to sell.
After all, if they don’t cash-in, they’ll end up with an unhappy player on their books. And that can be rather costly.
The quotes come from Fiorentina’s CEO, Sandro Mencucci, who says: “The first [time Jovetic] had asked us to experience elsewhere was last year, now we’ll see how it goes at the end of the championship. It would be nice to see him on the field next year with Giuseppe Rossi.”
That would indeed be a mouth-watering pairing. Something tells me however, that Jovetic will ‘experience elsewhere’ next season. With so many eyes trained upon him, I’m sure somebody will leap him and snap him up.
And with all the rumours flying around, it would surprise nobody if Arsenal were the team to do so.
This is especially true given the situation at the Emirates. The Gunners lost their main source of goals, Robin Van Persie, last summer. As a result, they’re not quite so confident going forward.
Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski were drafted in, but each arrived with their own individual problems. Giroud, for instance, is slow and wasteful. Podolski, on the other hand, seems to have fitness issues that have derailed what could have been a successful season.
Adding Jovetic to the mix would do more than shake things up. It would provide Arsenal with a platform on which they would be able to challenge for silverware.
The Montenegrin forward works hard, takes up smart positions but also has excellent feet. He’s a technically gifted player with access to a wealth of different tricks. At just 23-years-old, he’s set for big things. He’s rumoured to have a £20m price tag, but he’d be worth the investment.
So let’s hope that he gets the move he’s looking for and ends up at the Emirates!

No way, I would much prefer Higuian then Jovetic, he has only scored 13 goals this season which isnt exactly a proven track record nor does it mean he will play well in the PL.
Also to be honest I think you have come down on Giroud too hard, his work rate this season has been great and he gets into good positions but our delivery into the final third has been terrible.
