Cesc FabregasIf not quite a one-club man, Cesc Fabregas has always struck fans as a, uhm, two club man. The boy with Barcelona DNA has a barely disguised love for all things Arsenal and Arsene Wenger and these are the only two clubs he has ever played for. For a long while now, I assumed, along with many others, that these would be the only clubs he would ever play for.

But perhaps this won’t be the case. From what seems to be nothing, there’s a heavy amount of speculation regarding Cesc Fabregas and Arsenal’s perennial rivals, Manchester United.

This is a transfer rumour that manages to both make sense and make no sense whatsoever. One thing’s for sure, it’s going to upset Arsenal fans to see their (ex-)main man get linked to United.

It seems like nonsense, because of Fabregas’ relationship with Arsenal. On the other hand, it makes some sense given Manchester United’s situation and the situation of the player himself.

For a start, David Moyes has just taken over at Old Trafford and will be looking to make a quick impression. What better way of doing this than signing one of the best passers the Premier League has ever seen (perhaps even one of the best midfielders full stop).

Moyes will inherit a United side who have just lost Paul Scholes and need to add a bit of creativity to their midfield. Fabregas would provide than and then some. The Spanish midfielder has a Xabi Alonso-esque ability to buy himself time and space on the ball and then pick out the killer pass.

Best of all, he’s only 26-years-old and should be about to enter the best years of his career.

And yet, this last season hasn’t gone particularly well for him with Barcelona. He’s by no means a regular starter and has often struggled to make a telling impact. Maybe he’s just better suited to the Premier League (or a club like Arsenal, where he was the main man?).

Regardless, there’s no doubting Cesc’s talent. ESPN claim that Manchester United are considering tempting Barcelona with a £25m offer. If this were to come off, the Red Devils would secure an absolute bargain and a genuine world-beater.

Of course, Arsenal may have something to say about any potential deal, but should Moyes secure this deal, he’ll be off to a flying start.

What’s your take? Are Manchester United really in the market for Cesc Fabregas?

Suggest you check yr facts b4 publishing a story as Arsenal are due 50% of any fee from a Fabregas transfer Cant see Barca letting him go anyway for £25 million as they would only get £12.5 million for a player they paid close to £30million for, an still owe Arsenal a % of that fee, so even if Arsenal dont take up their buy back option the fee would be far more than what yr quoting

At this point it looks a difficult deal to happen but if it did it would have a tremendous impact on United midfield which has been mediocre so often last season. Fabregas is one of the best midfielders around, equally good defensively and as a creative attacking midfielder, not to mention the number of goals he scores every season. If it does happen it will be tremendous statement of intent by D Moyes.
