Could this goal-scoring £15m ace be ideal for Arsenal?

Burak YilmazArsenal’s main priority this summer? Bringing in a striker who can make them truly competitive once more.

Their midfield is packed full of talent, with the likes of Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere possessing unparalleled levels of technique.

Then there’s the Gunners heavily criticized defence, which really isn’t as bad (statistically speaking) as people like to think. If Arsenal’s back-four can cut out the individual errors, and Szczesny can do away with the careless errors, things could really come together next season.

But upfront, Arsenal have been struggling. Beyond Olivier Giroud, who really hasn’t convinced anybody, Arsenal have nobody to turn to.

Lukas Podolski doesn’t seem cut out for the role. Theo Walcott can’t hold the ball up. Gervinho is wildly inconsistent.

Giroud, on the other hand, is an indifferent finisher, who doesn’t use his strength or height to his advantage.

The truth is, Arsenal are missing Robin Van Persie, the man they sold to Manchester United last summer.

With all this in mind, I’m sure Arsene Wenger is already drawing up a list of summer transfers. But who can he bring in to fill the gap up top?

The Express claims that Galatasaray’s goal-scoring centre-forward, Burak Yilmaz is a major transfer target for Arsenal. This, I think, should give fans plenty of reason to get excited.

Yilmaz is a sensational striker, who has really risen to prominence since moving to Galatasaray. He nabbed 8 goals in this seasons Champions League (finishing third in the list of the competition’s top scorers). He’s also grabbed 22 goals in 25 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig.

In other words, if he’s on the pitch, there’s a good chance he’ll get on the score sheet. This kind of proficiency is difficult to find.

You’d have to look at Edinson Cavani, Robert Lewandowski and Radamel Falcao to find players with similar levels of finishing ability. Yet all these players are a little out of Arsenal’s league when it comes to their price-tags.

Yilmaz, on the other hand, is rumoured to cost £15m. If he does leave Gala for that price, he could end up being a real bargain. The player himself has left his future up to his club, saying: “If an offer comes on the table then it’s the club’s decision which will matter.”

Maybe it’s time for Arsenal to force Galatasaray’s hand?

What’s your take? Should Arsenal be in the market for Burak Yilmaz?

Why not try Benteke finish act rather than another struggling player again from Europe.
