Mario GotzeIt’s April and the most exciting Arsenal related news is the constant slew of transfer rumours concerning the club.

This has become an all too regular experience for Arsenal fans, who are now accustomed to seeing their club drop out of all competitions by this stage of the season.

We’d all rather be reading about a thrilling FA Cup semi-final win over our London rivals, but as Arsenal dropped out of that competition at the hands of Blackburn (Blackburn!), we’ll have to leave that to Manchester City (who look to have that competition wrapped up now).

Whilst the fight for fourth place brings some excitement, I don’t think I’m wrong to suggest a certain degree of apathy is beginning to seep through the ranks of Arsenal fans. We’re already starting to look at the kind of purchases that Arsene Wenger could make to put his side back in contention next year.

The future just happens to be a lot more exciting than the present. This is especially true when the Daily Mail keeps pumping out stories such as this: Arsene Wenger is ready to ‘revive Arsenal this summer’ by making a club record £30m bid for Mario Gotze.

Mario Gotze is the beating heart of a fantastic Borussia Dortmund side. The 20-year-old midfielder exudes class, with his extensive technical ability, his wide range of passing and his speed of thought. There’s a reason why he’s been earmarked as one of the best young talents in the game.

He’s certainly one to keep your eye on.

The Mail claim that Gotze is Arsenal’s ‘prime target’ and that they’re looking to meet his £30m release clause.

This may seem like a lot of money for a 20-year-old, but he’s the kind of player who could see his value double over the next five years or so. After all, he could go on to become one of the best midfielders in the world.

I have to say, the thought of Mario Gotze playing alongside Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla in Arsenal’s midfield, is mouth-watering. You’d be hard-pressed to find anybody else in the Premier League who would be their equal when it comes to technical ability.

Such a move would also probably call time on Abou Diaby’s Arsenal career, but this too would be a price worth paying.

Arsenal need to get serious about winning silverware and Mario Gotze would be a sign of their ambition.

What’s your take? Should the Gunners look to snap up this gifted young German?

    Fellow gooners,

Harry,Harry,,,,,,,,,,,do not waste your time posting Mail tripe. It is such LAZY jorno.Gotze has said he does not want to leave BD this summer. Also he is a Barca lover so that us out plus AFC are not buying from the very top table,if we did maybe he might think AFC are serious.Blimey,AFC fans need to see the board are serious this summer,if not believe me fans will drop season tickets this year in 1000’s,forget waiting list they will not bother either.

If we must spend £30M on a single player den it shud n must b 4 a top striker (Jackson Martinez, Lewandowski, Cavani or Falcao). We nid a Top ‘world class’ striker bt both Napoli n Atl. Madrid value both Cavani n Falcao far above £30M so we hav d likes of Lewandowski, JACKSON martinez, Jovetic, Benzema, Higuain, Dzeko, Villa, Yilmaz, Schurrle, e.t.c 2 choose 2 sign. Ani of dem wud b a great addition 2 d Arsenal syd.

I can still see a wedge of the so say 70 mill being spent on some unknown players. With the club not able to match wage demands for top talent.

  • Jim bob says:

Excuse me love but you English grammar is appalling but back to the topic, and I think götze is a great player for arsenal to sign spend big arsene

  • CHU says:

I DON’T THINK ARSEN WENGER WILL SIGN GOMEZ COZ A NUMBER OF CLUBS ARE EYE ON THE YOUNG TALENTED MAN . AT THIS TIME HIS VALU MAY INCREASE . SO,WENGER SD DO SOMETHING BEFORE THE OPENING OF TRANSFER WINDOW.

  • ronney.male says:

We need world class striker en super mid to be in the race ov trophies. Buy lyk 4 world clall players.

  • Rems says:

Its been how long since we’v seen a £20m signin @ arsenal? Since Reyes (I stand to b corrected). I dnt blame fan for disbelieving dat wenger cn spend £30m on 1 player. Gotze is good and would love to c him in an arsenal shirt. We need some1 to give Giroud competition since wenger doesn’t substitute him on his bad days like the previous game against Everton

  • Nathaniel alexandral B says:
