Is Manuel Pellegrini the right fit for Chelsea?

pellegriniWith the exit of interim boss Rafael Benitez imminent, who should be put in charge of Chelsea Football Club?

If the reports of The Sun and the Daily Telegraph are anything to go by, Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini is in talks to take up the role of becoming the Blues eighth manager in 6 years – an astonishing stat!

The 59-year-old’s name has been brought to the fray this season after coming seconds from leading Malaga to the sem-finals of the Champions League.

But is he the right man for Chelsea?

Well, for starters he isn’t English and there hasn’t been an Englishman in charge at Stamford Bridge, except the short caretaker spells of Graham Rix and Ray Wilkins, since Glenn Hoddle’s reign ended in 1996.

He also possesses Champions League experience with Malaga, as already stated, and with Real Madrid (the latter, he didn’t do so well with but maybe Roman will see past that!)

In any normal situation, a side that accumulates 96 points would win a league title, so is it well done Mr Pellegrini?

Not quite, Barcelona pipped Madrid to the title with 99 points in the 2009/10 season meaning Chilean Pellegrini is yet to win a league title as a manager – surely something which will disgruntle Mr Abramovich?

Then again if you win trophies at Chelsea it often leads to a P45.

Midfielder Frank Lampard and other members of the squad have called for the next appointment to be given ‘a good crack’ in charge and that’s understandable; Chelsea need stability after such a long period chopping and changing and Pellegrini could bring that.

He’s under contract at Malaga for a further year meaning Ambramovich could have to shell out a compensation fee with in the region of £3.5 million to gain his service but then again, he bought Fernando Torres for £50 million and look how that turned out?!

Well, I don’t think he’ll be hired. As I know, Roman will go for a rather high profile coach. However, if he happens to be the lucky man, I think he has what it takes to do it. As a Cfc fan I pray that the next manager is accorded time and freedom to take the team to the next level. Somebody tell our board and Roman that manager is not the only reason for failure, please!

in as much as i like Jose,i dont buy his insistence that he should be given total control of everything-is he the owner of the club?YOU WILL BE AN EMPLOYEE AND NOT OWNER.if Manuel
is qualified, why not give him the chance.but Jose is good.
