Lars BenderBorussia Dortmund has now established itself as a hotbed of talent. Success-hungry clubs throughout Europe are likely watching the Bundesliga side, ready to snap up their best players should the opportunity arise.

Shinji Kagawa has already made the move to the Premier League, whilst other stars like Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze and Matt Hummels may also fit in nicely on English shores.

And with Borussia Dortmund’s failure to secure a third successive title this season, key players may well have their eyes turned.

This brings me to a club who could use a talent injection: Arsenal. According to The Mirror, Arsene Wenger is ready to make a ‘dramatic’ £70m raid on the Bundesliga this summer. He is targeting two Dortmund stars, the aforementioned Mario Gotze and Roberto Lewandowski and Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender.

Truth be told, it’s hard to argue with any of this signings and they all provide a solution to ‘problem areas’ of the squad.

For a start, Arsenal need a midfield they can rely upon. With Abou Diaby out for another nine months, Tomas Rosicky always ready with a sick note, Aaron Ramsey erratic and Mikel Arteta getting on in years, an addition or two in this department may be a smart move for Arsenal.

And the two players that could join the Gunners, Goetze and Bender are fantastically talented young stars who would make an immediate impact at the club. Goetze is a Wilshere-level talent, who is renowned his technical ability, his range of passing and his free-spirited, free roaming, devastatingly effective midfield forays. If Arsene gets his hands on this one, he’s onto a real winner.

And then there’s Lars Bender, the brother of Dortmund’s (there they are again) Sven Bender. Lars has been in fantastic form this year and at 23-years-old, is only going to get better.

Finally, there’s Robert Lewandowski, the Polish striker who has the craft, ingenuity and goal-scoring ability to establish himself as a proper replacement for ex-club captain, Robin Van Persie.

Whilst Olivier Giroud has settled nicely at the Emirates, there is still work to be done in this department. 27 goals in 37 appearances this season speaks to what Lewandowski can offer this Arsenal side.

Of course, £70m is a lot of money, but this is an Arsenal side that requires some serious investment. If Arsene can attract these players and isn’t afraid to splash the cash, he could set the club on the right path again.

What’s your take? Would this triple swoop be a good move for Arsenal?
