Why Arsenal should swoop for this goal-scoring Brazilian talent:

|

Diego Costa celebrates his winnerWhatever happens over the course of the rest of the season, Arsene Wenger will reach into the summer transfer window and pick out some fresh attacking footballers.

Whilst much of this season’s scrutiny and criticism has been focused on Arsenal’s defenders, the attacks inability to hold the ball up, or provide any real cut and thrust has invited pressure. Buying players with the skill and wherewithal to buy time, take players on (can you imagine Olivier Giroud collecting the ball and jinking past two players? Not on your nelly!).

Luckily, Arsene Wenger is a manager who is renowned for his ability to find fine attacking talent at a bargain price. Whilst his ability seems to have waxed and waned over the last half-decade, he’s still got the chops. Let’s hope he’ll approach the summer transfer window with wallet in hand and a positive outlook.

The media seems to have picked up on Arsenal’s weakness and the void they need to fill. As a result, the club has been linked to all and sundry. If you’re a half decent attacking player, playing in one of Europe’s top Leagues, there’s every chance you’ve been linked to Arsenal over the last six months. If you’re not, then oh well – I’m sure there’s plenty of other things that you’re good at.

But who should Arsenal swoop for?

A recent Arsenal article on ‘Footy Latest‘, starts with a big at the club: “While the big guns of Europe plot a move for Radamel Falcao, Arsene Wenger’s wishlist features a different Atletico Madrid striker, Diego Costa.” Zing!

Without wanting to rise to their claims, Arsenal have been linked to Falcao and following their latest commercial deal, have the money to make a move happen. It’s also slightly harsh on Diego Costa who is a fantastic player in his own right and doesn’t deserve to live in Falcao’s shadow.

The Brazilian forward recently recieved a call-up to his National side and at 24-years-old, looks ready for the big time. He has scored 15 goals and notched 13 assists this season as he has firmly established himself as one of Atletico Madrid’s best players.

He’s a flair player, who uses his quick feet to great effect and can tie defenders in knots with his pace and ingenuity. He’d be an excellent addition for Arsenal, despite not having the profile of Radamel Falcao.

What’s your take? Would you like to see Diego Costa at Arsenal this summer?
