Good thing too! Arsenal already in talks with this defensive talent:

|

Fernando AmorebietaArsenal losing to Bayern Munich was not exactly a big surprise. The Bundesliga side have been a real force to be reckoned with and may well go on to win the Champions League this season.

Arsenal on the other hand, have had problems all season and have consistently bottled it against bigger clubs (and smaller clubs, to be fair).

What really hurt, was the defeats at the hands of Bradford City and Blackburn Rovers, two lower League clubs that Arsenal should have seen off with ease.

As things stand, Arsenal don’t have the quality, the strength in depth, the leadership, the fight or organisation to launch a sustained trophy fight. Indeed, Arsenal have plummetted to all new levels of disappointment this season and have thoroughly let down the fans.

This must in part be down to Arsene Wenger’s unwillingness to make adequate additions to his squad in the preceeding summer or January transfer windows. Whether or not he’s still Arsenal boss in the summer, it’s clear that the club are going to have to do some serious recruitment when the window re-opens.

With that in mind, Arsenal should already be lining up potential transfer targets – it’s not like there’s anything left to look forward to this season.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal are doing exactly this. They claim that Athletic Bilbao’s ace defender, Fernando Amorebieta has held talks with the North London side with a view to a summer move. He’ll be out of contract at the season’s end and could make  a free transfer to a club of his choice. His agent is quoted as saying:

“We are in talks with Arsenal, he could join them in June.”

Arsene Wenger has always been a fan of bargains and Amorebieta would certainly fall into that category. With over 250 La Liga appearances, a wealth of experience and a willingness to move on, he certainly has the quality to make it in the Premier League.

It’s been clear watching Arsenal this season that they need a defensive shake-up. I’m not sure Per Mertesacker has a long-term future at the club and I think Sagna would make a better centre-back than a right-back (he’s now too slow). Signing Fernando Amorebieta on the cheap, whilst freeing up funds to sign a world-class right-back could put the club in a stronger position for next season.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal be in the market for Fernando Amorebieta this summer?

The idea of signing a player for free is part of Wenger’s problems. A player need to be valued,a free agent tend to feel inferior.but buying at high cost gives them an aura of confidence n selfbelief.

Never trust AW n HIS employers; but let’s hope 4 good signings plus shit exits.
