Arsenal’s £15m transfer solution that could send Abou Diaby packing:

|

Yohan_Cabaye_2034395c-e1319644280748Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over a shaky Aston Villa side will have done little to calm the tempers of the fans who have had to put up with so much this season.

Yes, it’s fairly churlish of Arsenal fans to complain about the nature of their victory (when victories seem to be such a rare occurrence nowadays) but it’s clear that the Gunners lack impetus moving forward.

Arsene Wenger’s team should have been out of sight before Villa managed to find an equaliser. Wasteful moments from Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski highlight the lack of killer instinct that’s currently hanging over this team.

Good job then, that their super Spaniard, Santi Cazorla managed to save the home by steering home Nacho Monreal’s cross with a precise finish. If only Arsenal’s strikers were so calm and assured on the ball.

The likes of Olivier Giroud, Gervinho never seem to buy themselves any real time on the ball, make bad decisions and can’t finish. Then there’s Arsenal midfielders like Aaron Ramsey and Abou Diaby, who are wasteful in possession and lacking in physicality (Ramsey) and pace (Diaby).

It’s here, that I think Arsene Wenger should start when he starts drawing up a list of potential recruits this summer. Arsenal need better options in this area of the field and it’s quite clear that the time has arrived to give up on Abou Diaby (if not young Ramsey, who still could come good).

But who could they bring in? According to The Express, Arsene Wenger will look to bring in £15m Newcastle man, Yohan Cabaye. This, to me, would be a very smart addition. The 27-year-old is one of the finest passers of the ball in the Premier League, supremely confident on the ball and a great exploiter of pace.

He reminds me in some ways, of Mikel Arteta in his prime. He just oozes class and rarely seems to have a bad day. If he’s really available for just £15m, I’d consider that a bargain. The next couple of seasons will likely be the best of his career. Wouldn’t it be nice if he had them at Arsenal?

Wouldn’t it be something for Arsenal to be able to have real midfield options to come off the bench? Wouldn’t it be nice not to have to see the lumbering frame of Abou Diaby shuffling across the pitch?

Come on Wenger, make it happen!

What’s your take? Should Arsenal be in the market for Yohan Cabaye?

Can’t help but to wonder what Arsenal match you were watching. The final was 2-1. Also wondering what Arsenal team you’ve been watching all year because your analysis is, in a word, off.

It is 2-1 victory not 1-0 victory. Did you even watch the match?

Im pretty sure that if we bought Cabeye it would limit the roles of Ramsay and Arteta. We would still require the big physical midfielder. Solution is to get song back on the cheap as Barca have not paid us for him.

  • Les Naidoo says:

  • mayheaven says:

Everyone knows that we need to strengthen the spine of the team, with a DMF and a striker the priority.
We also know that throughout the Summer we’ll be linked with players like Hazard, Mata, Goetz, Martinez, Falcao… and we’ll end up with mid-table journeymen bought and the last minute from the bargain basement shop. Plus ça change…

  • Malaysian gunner says:

Make the defence hard to beat.
