It seems that the Scottish football authorities do indeed want to treat Rangers differently from the rest of Scottish football.
With the announcement that if Rangers win the third division they will be denied promotion due to the forced and panic driven reconstruction of the penniless SPL, it is not hard to understand the anger that is coming from within Rangers.
The idea that a club wins the league and then is denied promotion goes against all the ethos of fair and sporting play. The rules of any sporting contest are set out at the beginning of the contest and any attempt to change these rules mid-way through to alter the result is a form of cheating and must be challenged.
Rules are what keep sport organised and competitive. Without players obeying the rules then sport becomes meaningless and this is sadly where Scottish football finds itself today. Those that run the game believe that they are above the law and can make and break the rules when it suits them.
Back in 1993/94 Scottish football had a league set-up of 12, 12, and 14, supporting 38 clubs. This was followed the previous season with four leagues of ten teams. The Champions of Scottish Football League two in 1993/94 were Stranraer.
With league reconstruction on the way Stranraer, instead of being given the deal offered to Rangers where promotion means staying in what is effectively the same division of Scottish football, were elevated into the first division. This was their reward for winning the championship.
The present vice–chairman of Stranraer Iain Dougan has stated “Stranraer were promoted after winning the league during reconstruction and were parachuted into the first division so if I was Rangers CEO Charles Green I’d be saying there is a precedent”.
The most important reason that rules are imperative is the integrity of the league. It seems once again that when it comes to Rangers, those that run the Scottish game feel that they can change the rules ad-hoc.
If league reconstruction goes ahead and Rangers are cheated out of their right to promotion, the game in Scotland – which is already on its knees – will indeed appear a corrupt and ugly game to those on the outside looking in.

You want integrity, sporting or otherwise. Allow the SFL to do their own TV deal for rangers matches & share it however they see fit!

As a fellow Rangers fan could u remind me but I’m sure SFL stated just after start of this season that reconsturuction could not go ahead for 2 years due sponsorship deals and termination clauses, but now they can somehow fast track reconstruction???? As for Rangers not being able to afford players what about the players CELTIC had they could only afford because Mr Desmond paid the wages for them and not CELTIC anyone wish to answer that, that is why I feel if WE do get titles taken away then they should go to the team which came 3rd they season (or better still not be given to anyone if that’s the case). I have spoken to Celtic supporters who agree Mr Desmond paid wages for these players as your club could not afford them anyother way so is this not a “crime” in sporting terms on it own. Could someone also answer this question after Celtic saying they are all for and support the SPL if rangers do move to play in English league (here it comes) will Celtic stay in SPL or try and move as well???????
