TWO signings that Arsenal NEED to finalise:

Image for TWO signings that Arsenal NEED to finalise:

Arsenal fans must feel thoroughly dissatisfied with their lot. In their big showdowns with the top teams in the Premier League, they’ve found themselves thoroughly out-matched (take Chelsea’s 2-1 victory last weekend). Combine this with the fact that Arsenal often look ill-prepared against smaller clubs (like Bradford City, Swansea City and Norwich City) and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.

You’d think this would be enough to force the notoriously tight Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger to take to the transfer market. Yet, surprise, surprise – the Frenchman has yet to make any additions and doesn’t seem to be close to a signing either.

The only hope for Arsenal fans, is that he takes action during the last week of the transfer market and brings in two or three players to improve the squad. After all, without reinforcements, the Gunners may have to make do with a mid-table finish. Let’s not forget all the trimmings that come with a mid-table finish – lack of Champions League football, less financial power and diminished expectations and levels of motivation.

January has now become the most important month of Arsenal’s season. Who they bring in now could make or break them.

According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal are interested in two players. Both of them are midfielders, but offer rather distinct styles of play.

The first player is French perma-crock Yoann Gourcuff, who is fighting his way back from loan. The talented-when-fit midfielder would fit in nicely to an Arsene Wenger side and could help the likes of Abou Diaby and Tomas Rosicky to warm the physio’s bench.

Arsenal are looking to secure a loan deal for Gourcuff, but would have to cover his £80k-a-week wages – a price well worth paying if they can keep him fit. He may make for an excellent temporary solution, before a better signing is made in the summer.

The second player is Celtic’s midfield enforcer, Victor Wanyama. He scared the life out of Barcelona earlier this season, is a real imposing presence and loves to get stuck in. Indeed, he’s the kind of player that Arsenal have needed for some time now – someone who can provide balance to a technically gifted but slight midfield.

The combination of these two players may be enough to put Arsenal back into contention for a top four slot. At the very least, it would help to fight complacency.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal snap up Yoann Gourcuff and Victor Wanyama?

All we need is to hope and pray that it is successful, instead of saying Mr.Wenger is bidding this and that player to boulster or strengthen our attack or midfield, this have been sayed on and on since the start of this season!

I strongly disagree with the signing of gourcuff. In fact i think our midfield is too packed.especially in the middle.what we need is a solid winger.some what of bale or ronaldo calibre.right now we only have chamberlain at the wings who is although capable enough to beat players but is still inexperience. In the middle we have wilshere santi arteta for our 1st team.plus ramsey (who just need games to get his oldself back) rosicky (who is still one of the most skillfull players in arsenal) to back them up.as well as coquelin and frimpong who both need games to blend in the team and be our defensive forces.infact, arteta and wilshere are also both good enough to be our defensive force.
we need a strong quick and skillfull winger to beat players all over the field.splash the huge amount on one and it will be enough.Neymar.break the bank for him and we dont have to sign any other players for the next 2 years.

    Podolski
    Neymar ————- Walcott
    Santi Carzola
    Arteta————–Wilshere
    Gibbs–Thomas-Laurent–Sagna
    Woj

dont you feel our 1st team line up has gotten 80% scarier with the inquisition of Neymar?not forgetting chamberlain, giroud, gervinho and ramsey are still on the bench.

I also think that our defense line is far from what it should be. Sagna is far from the player we know. Vermaleen is injured too often this days. Gibbs certainly is not at top levels. Koscielny for me is d only in form defender in Arsenal now. I won’t mind a top defender coming in to tidy the back line.
