I think it’s fair to say that this Spanish League isn’t in the best state financially. Last season Malaga had all kind of problems. This led to them selling Arsenal Santi Cazorla for a bargain price.

And now there are stories of Sevilla’s financial issues emanating from the La Liga. As talkSPORT note, Sevilla present Jose Maria Del Nido has already claimed recently that if his side do make signings, ‘there will be exits’.

Well, I’m sure that plenty of interested parties throughout Europe will be glad to hear that they’ve signed Miroslav Stevanovic, a Bosnian midfielder. This may help to convince the club’s top brass that they need to sell one of their top players.

The aforementioned site notes that Tottenham may be the ones to benefit from this situation.

Andre Villas-Boas has done a fantastic job at White Hart Lane, pushing Spurs up into 3rd in the Premier League table. There’s a good chance he’ll bring Champions League football back to the Lane, but in order to make certain of this, he may need to get active in the transfer market.

After all, you can bet that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, two rivals for a fourth place finish, will make additions to their squad this January.

Tottenham’s main area of weakness is upfront. Whilst Jermaine Defoe has been in fine fettle this season, demonstrating his prowess in front of goal on numerous occasions, Emmanuel Adebayor has struggled.

It wouldn’t surprise me, therefore, if Tottenham were interested in Alvaro Negredo – Sevilla’s ace striker.

Negredo is a top quality striker. Last term he grabbed 14 goals in 36 games and this year he already has 11 goals in just 17 appearances. At 27-years-old, all the signs are there that he’s about to enter the best years of his career. He’s in peak physical form and seems to have discovered a supreme confidence in front of goal.

He’s also a smart player – he takes up good positions, links up play well and makes intelligent runs. I can’t help but feel that he’d make an excellent addition to the Tottenham front line. Spurs have a need and Negredo may well represent the solution.

talkSPORT claim an offer of around €20m may be enough to tempt Sevilla to sell. That sounds like a good deal to me.

What’s your take? Would Alvaro Negredo be a good addition for Tottenham?

Good point. Tottenham do need an established striker to put the ball in the net more often – let’s face it, they get more chances than Brad Pitt at an ugly-girls’ party but don’t score as often as they should. Adebayor did well last season with Harry’s support but he does not seem to be capable of the same this term under AVB. So yes, an in-form strker of note would be a welcome addition to the Spurs team before AVB breaks the record for the most midfield players in one squad!
