At just £10m this may be a very smart transfer move for Arsenal:

|

Younes BelhandaArsenal fans have been waiting patiently for Arsene Wenger to make the club’s first signing of the January transfer window.

And they’ve had to put up with some frustrating comments from Arsene regarding Newcastle’s spending, something he think is ‘unfair’.

Regarding the January transfer window, he continues to say: “I think it should be completely cut out or limited to two players.” (Source: BBC)

Whilst I can understand the logic behind Arsene Wenger’s claims, they don’t seem to bode well when it comes to Arsenal’s future transfer action.

I’m sure most fans have looked at Arsenal’s recent form and are crying out for a Newcastle-esque response in the January transfer window. But that’s just not Arsene’s way and there’s a good chance he’ll make no major additions.

Despite this, it’s worth holding out the hope. If Wenger does opt to bring in a couple of reinforcements, it could help swing the odds back in the Gunners favour when it comes to a fourth place finish.

I have to say, this particular story courtesy of the Daily Mail, seems to have all the hallmarks of a potential Arsene Wenger transfer.

It concerns Montpellier’s ace young midfielder, Younes Belhanda. He ticks a number of boxes, given that he’s: young, technically gifted and plays his football in Ligue 1. I’m sure this is a footballer that Wenger knows plenty about.

If he thinks that he’d improve this Arsenal side, or that he’d provide a decent squad option, I think he’s a player that Arsenal should be pursuing.

According to The Mail, Montpellier are offering Belhanda to Arsenal for £10m. That’s not a bad price for a player who has caught the eye throughout Europe with his fine displays in the Champions League this season (including an awesome penalty against Arsenal) and last season when (alongside Olivier Giroud) he helped Montpellier to the French title.

Unfortunately, PSG’s cash-injection seems to have wilted Montpellier’s progress and it’s clear that without Giroud’s goals, they can no longer compete at the top. I wouldn’t be surprised if this has resulted in restlessness on the behalf of Belhanda and a desire on the behalf of the club to move him on.

At just 22-years-old, there’s a good chance he’ll blossom into a player of real quality, a world-class talent who would fit in nicely in this Arsenal team.

At this stage, I’m just hoping that Arsene signs somebody. Belhanda, however, looks like a good choice.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal be in the market for Younes Belhanda?

Think Belhanda is a very very good player, certainly would’nt object to him arriving. If we buy him, does that mean Walcott moving into the centre? I believe we need a very tall strong def mid player first & foremost and a keeper.

He would be a great signing but we really, really need to do something about our defenders. No matter what’s happening up front the back 4 is more urgent – we are dire.
Much as I like Per, he’s too slow. TV & LK aren’t too hot at the mo either. Santos is a nice guy but sucks as a LB. Our defence needs fixing, glasses on Arsene, it’s obvious to everyone else!

It will be awesome IF Arsenal get Belhanda, Villa and Diane! It will that the club is serious in their pursuit for trophies n CK qualification!!!
