Time to offer this Premier League striker his ‘dream’ move to Arsenal?

Having just seen Arsenal put in arguably their best performance of the season against Reading (and their best since the 5-2 against their eternal rivals Tottenham). Whilst there were a few shaky moments (there must have been a few fans getting the wobbles when Reading pulled the score back to 4-2) but the fact that the Gunners were able to steady the ship and show the attacking chops that they’ve lacked so often this season is a promising sign for the future of this club.

But I won’t get too carried away. Reading have a strong claim on being the weakest side in this season’s Premier League and their inadequacies may well have helped Arsenal to find their flow. The result and the performance don’t change the fact that Arsene Wenger needs to make some major additions to this side – particularly upfront.

Arsene Wenger has been chopping and changing his forward line since the start of the season and can’t seem to find any consistent performers to play this role. So far he’s offered the ‘striker’ role to Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski and Gervinho with various degrees of success.

A new addition in this area will be an important target during the January transfer window. But Wenger won’t have to pay a fortune. After all, Newcastle’s goal-poacher supreme has more or less opened the door to a move to the Emirates and the Senegal International has a £7.5m release clause written into his contract. He’d represent something of a bargain for the Gunners in an area that they need to bolster. (Source: Daily Mail).

When asked about Arsenal by the Press, Ba responded: “I have nothing to say about those speculations. Nothing has happened. The media know Arsenal need another striker and they know about my release clause. They need to make their own mind up about it. Arsenal are one of those teams who makes you dream.”

That’s quite a few words for a player who has ‘nothing to say’.

Ba is a fantastic mix of pace, strength and goal-scoring ability. Already these season he’s nabbed 11 goals and doesn’t look like slowing down. He’s a tenacious talent who always seems to be in the right position at the right time. I can only hope the next position he finds himself in, is that of an Arsenal forward.

What’s your take? Would Demba Ba be a good addition to Arsenal’s forward line?
