It’s no secret that Liverpool could use another striker. Much of the dialogue surrounding the club has focused on this particular issue.

Brendan Rodgers, in particular has been subject to a good deal of criticism this season. The truth, however, is that he was shortchanged by the club’s top brass this summer. They didn’t back him in the transfer market when he needed them too and the club is suffering as a result.

I have faith that Rodgers can steady the ship this January – if he’s given the support necessary. It’s sad to see Liverpool vanquished to middle table obscurity. This is a club that should be out there competing for titles and challenging the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Instead, however, Luis Suarez is left to plug away alone providing the club’s one true source of solace. Keeping hold of him will be Liverpool’s priority number one, but bringing in somebody to support him

One man who has been mentioned in conjunction with Liverpool fairly often is Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge.

Despite Fernando Torres’ inconsistency upfront, Sturridge hasn’t been getting as many opportunities as he must surely have hoped when Didier Drogba left last summer. And now, The Telegraph claims that Liverpool are ready to snap up the young Brit in a £15m January transfer.

At 23-years-old, it’s about time that Sturridge played regular football. At one stage he looked to have a big future in the England set-up. His fortunes have dwindled in recent times however, with Roy Hodgson preferring to look to the likes of Jermaine Defoe. A change in clubs could be just what he needs to spur his career onwards and upwards.

You get the feeling that he’d fit in nicely at Anfield too. He has a great attitude, works hard and is a natural finisher. He could play just in front of Luis Suarez and would surely benefit from the Uruguayan’s sublime technical ability, vision and smarts.

Liverpool are rumoured to have pursued Daniel Sturridge for quite some time now and are thought to have gone in for him on deadline day last summer. It seems the club has finally got its priorities right. The next challenge is coughing up the £15m that would be necessary to persuade Chelsea to sell. You get the feeling that Brendan Rodger’s future (and the club’s) depends on it.

What’s your take? Is Sturridge good value for money at £15m?

He’s not worth 15m there are far better players we can acquire for that amount, we don’t want another Downing/Hendo/Adam/Joe Cole (wages) situation on our hands, besides he’s on stupid wages and will have to take a pay cut.

It Rodgers buys sturridge for £15 million pounds,he might as well call himself clown FOOLGLISH ? Sturridge is all for himself, and always has been,he’s not a striker or he would have scored more ? And done tell me he doesn’t get the time,he’s just crap…We’ve waisted millions on British sh*te for years, time to go abroad ASAP…trying to get rid of the SHAMBOLIC signings FOOLGLISH bought is bad enough thanks…Never gonna be rid of Downing due to wages ? Henderson due to wages ? Carroll due to wages ? Spearing due to wages ? Cole due to wages ? And I’m not even talking a fee for the load of SH*TE they are…

I’d rather we paid £8 million for Huntelaar and paid him extra in wages to get him in. Unfortunately as with English players you pay a big premium (never really understood why?). We’ve already paid over the odds for Carroll, Downing and Henderson, basically cos of their nationality. I can’t see FSG being that naive again.

Lol I hope the rumours about Sturridge are false he’s far from good enough. If he was he’d be starting infront of a miss firing torres or at least given te chance. As for hard working an has a good attitude have you actually ever seen Sturridge play football before … Hes lazy greedy and sulks. Massive Rodgers fan but cant see what he is thinking if this is true

    We should go for:

    1. Aubameyang – St Etienne
    2. Heung Son Min – Hamburg
    3. Walcott – Arsenal

we would get top four easy with that front line including Suarez.

Aubameyang is a number 9, 7 & 11 all in one. Kind of like Walcott but imo 2x better. He has turned in to a clinical finisher and is the second top scorer in the french league behind Ibrahimovic.

Heung Min Son is a natural goal scorer with pace, vision, movement and can play across the whole front line. He is young and will become world class in a season or 2. He is also a poacher and will improve revenue.

Walcott on his day is unstoppable and in current form invaluable he always make 10+ assists a season and contributes close to 10 goals a season but looks to surpass that already. He can play in all attacking positions, has PL experience and hes a Liverpool fan.

All 3 are young and can play in all positions on the front line which is invaluable for us.
