Why Arsenal have to switch horses in this particular transfer race:

I’m writing this article immediately following Arsenal’s frustrating 1-1 draw with an Everton side that looked desperate to engineer an upset. Whilst the Gunners haven’t been at their best this season, they’re still a scalp that’s worthy of respect once it has been collected.

The game and the result didn’t reveal anything we didn’t already know about this Arsenal side. The Gunners lack potency upfront. They always seem to be on the back foot in every game because the passing isn’t sharp enough and they can’t seem to exert any supremacy over key areas of the pitch.

Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla are fine players, but they don’t intimidate opposition. What’s more, they’re attempting to pass the ball into Olivier Giroud’s feet and the Frenchman always appears to be the most static object on the pitch (including the goalposts). Whilst he’s a heading machine, he doesn’t offer any focal point, or any real source of inspiration.

Suffice to say, the Gunners are calling out for some transfers. For Arsene Wenger, January can’t seem to come soon enough.

Which is why it’s slightly disappointing to see Arsenal get linked so strongly to Crystal Palace’s young winger, Wilfried Zaha (Source: The Mirror). We all know that he’s talented, but it’s not like he’s good enough to completely turn around the fortunes of this Arsenal side. The Gunners need a couple of world-beaters to join their side and Zaha doesn’t quite fit that mould (not yet anyway).

When asked whether Wilfried Zaha is a player that Arsenal are looking for during the week, Arsene Wenger responded: “We are looking at every player who could strengthen our squad. He’s [Zaha] not more on the list than anybody else.” There’s every chance that he could attempt to swoop in and sign him up this January. The Mirror claim that a £7m bid for his services is possible.

I’d love to think that Wenger will launch a spending spree this January. In all likelihood, however, he’ll be looking to make 1 or 2 smart additions. With that in mind, he’ll have to make the right decisions. Arsenal should be looking at strikers like Edinson Cavani (I know, highly unlikely) and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, players with experience who could make their mark at the Emirates.

Anything else, for the time being, seems to play into the view of Arsenal being a team who value youth over success. And I thought those days were dead.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal sign Wilfried Zaha?

Arsenal needs a winger like zaha who is unpredictable like walcott & could single handededly destroy any defence with his passing and dribbling skills like ronaldo has been doing for some years now. He is strong, energetic and pacy. That is what we really need from our wingers.

    who’s useless article is this?

    huntelar a world beater..lol

    n
if u understand football mister…not video game football….the real one…

    u can see…arsenal lacks strength in midfield…coz they lack a strong dm…

u could Av seen what effects diaby caused.

arteta lacks pace….he’s not that strong…he’s not that great with tackling…he’s just a good passer….

what service actually giroud has ever got from cazorla….i can’t remember any…apart from that spurs game cross…

any striker needs chances to finish….giroud isn’t a false nine like rvp…who’ll play n build up with the midfield
    he’s a classic striker….

theo n giroud go well together…u can see giroud playing one two with theo…

n though cazorla is a good player…he’s always marked
n he lacks physical presence n gets stuck

    so bring a good dm

    n
    creative wingers

to ease the burden on cazorla….

    rosicky is back…n he’ll teach cazorla who to dominate…even if u r small…in structure…

rosicky can draw out defenders…with his clever turns n wonderful first touch…

    arteta isn’t a dm

    so get a dm….

I agree with you. When they sold Song, people were making noise that he was useless, made a lot of errors etc. Now they should realise how useful the guy was. Very strong in tackles, holding off the ball without knocked off, taking on the opponents, brilliant passing despite of being a dm etc.

Arsenal needs an experienced DM to free Arteta further forward to assist Carzola. He needs other good ball passers and holding players along side him so that he can enjoy his game. Jack is just coming back and he yet to master his game and positioning which is hard at the moment when when we need wins.

Amol u’re absolutely right, we dn’t nid any strike bt a defend & a Defensive midfielder nd lets change our formation to 4-4-2 cos we don’t av on d wings quality…check out d best winger, messi, ronaldo, hazard nd d only winger we can boast or is gervinho if!, only he can work on his finishin..
