At just £5m, Arsenal are about to miss out on the bargain signing of the season:

Whether you’re an Olivier Giroud defender, or you can’t wait to see the back of the Frenchman, I’m sure you’ll agree that Arsenal have problems upfront.

In seasons of old, Arsenal have never had problems with scoring goals. Sure, they’ve been a defensive abomination for the last decade or so, but they’ve always had incision, precision and some degree of clinicality moving forward.

With this team, those days are long gone. On the rare occasion that Arsenal do muster up an attack (what has happened to this team’s bark and bite?) it’s often fluffed by the aforementioned French International, or walloped over the bar by Santi Cazorla.

The worry is that he players Arsenal currently have aren’t good enough to dig them out of this offensive crisis. They don’t have the nous, movement, ability or pure finishing ability to lift the Gunners out of this slump.

As such, Arsene Wenger may have to turn to the transfer market in an attempt to find a solution. This brings me to Fernando Llorente.

The Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport (via talkSPORT) claim that Juventus are set to sign the Spaniard (who Arsenal have shown an interest in) for just £5m. £5m!

I find it difficult to believe that Athletic Bilbao would be willing to let a world-class striker leave their club for such a paltry sum. But the fact that Llorente is playing fast and loose with his contract situation (which is up at the end of next summer) suggests there may be some truth to the claims.

If he’s available for anything under £15m, Arsenal have to go after him. He’d represent a quintessential Arsene Wenger bargain signing. The Spanish ace has all the attributes he needs to thrive in the Premier League. He’s physically tough, has a great engine and desire to win the ball, he’s dominant in the air and he’s a natural goal-scorer. Last season he scored 29 goals in 53 games. How the Gunners could use a player with his goal-scoring ability at the moment.

Anybody who saw him dismantle Manchester United in last season’s Europa League will attest to the Spanish striker’s talent.

By January, I fully expect Arsenal to be on their last legs. Fernando Llorente may represent the perfect pick-me-up.

What’s your take? Would Llorente be a bargain at just £5m?

Don’t be silly. Gazidis totally incapable of justifying his obscene £2m salary by acquiring a bargain like that. And wenger lacks the balls and winning mentality to see the need for it. Carry on paying your £80 a match seats for chamack and santos

Bullshit article if i am not mistaken girould was one of the top 2 highest goal scorers in the league 1 last season one thing for cant do better than girould

Haryy your article suggests that giroud is not up to the task of leading arsenals attack. Though i don’t think he is the same as robin van persie i do believe we can only make a judgement about him at the end of the season If he scores twenty goals this season a good return in his first season in a more difficult leaue then i would say he was a success. He has shown good movement and has scored goals. the problem seems to be the creating of opportunitites one that seems to be layed at steve boulds door however last season, we scored less goals than any other season so i don’t see it being boulds defensive influence stifling the creativity. Now arsenal have lost just three times in the league the norwich one would be indefensible until you think that it was after a two week international break and they had little practice time together where as norwich for the whole two weeks had the majority of their team together working towards arsenal game. the other two losses were to chelsea and utd two top four sides and the chelsea loss was down to goal keeping and defensive errors we were not outplayed in that match. the utd game they were just better on the day. The major problem this season is lack of pre-season they had some 45 minute games then 3 90 minutes normally they have two or three 90 minutes away and then the three emirates cup games so six full matches for fitness and match sharpness to be obtained they are behind in this aspect but will get there. Giroud poldolski and cazorla had one pre season match together and wilshere has now had two games with these teamates to gel it all takes time

Another waste of time article by some idiot who plays football manager and thinks they know everything. Just because you have watched a few YouTube videos of llorente you think he would be the answer to all arsenal’s problems. Give me huntelaar anyday, 48 goals in 48 games is something to get excited about, llorente offers a similar avenue to giroud and both had a similar goal to game ratio last season. And at 5million come on, you can’t possibly believe that, where do you get your information from!! dick head

Giroud to me is not bad, but I still think we need farnando or any other good striker in January to compliment him. The points are been lost gradually and when it matters most. So the club need to act fast and solve the striking and left back problems.
