Is the SPL any ‘straighter’ than Craig Whyte?

Just weeks after selling David Templeton to Rangers, Hearts manager John McGlynn has announced that five senior members of the squad may not be paid this month. The reason for this apparently is that Hearts are waiting for money owed to them from the Scottish Premier League. The Scottish Cup holders claim that they are owed £300,000 from the SPL.

It would be interesting to see Hearts credit rating this week as yet again they appear to be ready to default on paying their players wages. Once again the only thing keeping Hearts alive is their owner Vladimir Romanov, who has sucked up the debt the club, owes. Hearts debt is currently sitting at £24 million, which is more than Rangers carried when the Ibrox club went into administration.

It seems that while beating Rangers to a pulp the SPL have taken their eye off the ball and let other clubs slide into the same financial mismanagement Rangers suffered.   As Hearts and the SPL play financial Russian roulette, all 12 top-flight clubs have still to receive about £300,000 each from the SPL.

It will be interesting to see how the SPL deal with any delay in players receiving their wages. The league-governing body last season charged Hearts “with failing to behave with the utmost good faith to the SPL” after they were late in paying their players. Will there be any punishment for the SPL for defaulting on their contractual agreement?

Once again we witness the mismanagement of Scottish Football on a horrific scale. The SPL in its present form resembles the last days of the old Rangers business. Rumours over money, financial mismanagement and deny and deflect tactics. By not meeting their financial obligations on time, are the people at the helm of the SPL any straighter than Craig Whyte?

And through all this once again all we hear is the Silence of the Damned. Fans of these 12 clubs were quick to tell Rangers to pay their debts. The chorus of condemnation for Rangers shouted down all reason. So we are left wondering why the silence on this occasion? What ever happened to Sporting Integrity? Surely these fans, whose passion for integrity and fairness in sport is legendary, feel they should have a say in what is happening with their league? Yet what do we get; silence. Oh the hypocrisy.

The SPL is looking more and more like it is in financial meltdown and we can only wonder how long they can keep the bailiffs from the door. But don’t expect to hear any debate in the Scottish media or amongst those who were most vocal when Rangers hit financial turmoil. No one is asking questions as to how things got so bad – if you listen closely all you can hear is the Silence of the Damned.

I now look forward to Cyberted’s inane rants.

“Any old iron any old iron any any old, old iron?”

  • usabear says:

Think the sfa using all their funds to try and give rangers more “sanctions”. Now ebts after being in use for over 10 years have an independent’ commission looking into them. Who is financing this?

  • Dilly Bodds says:

Is this another inane attempt to blame others for the demise of the unlamented Rangers F.C.?

Just accept this and move on or walk away!

  • Jimmy says:

    good read Ted,

may you continue to spread the word on the bizarre workings of the inept spl

  • Uncle Tam says:

The Hearts manager says he is one of a few HMFC employees whose wages are delayed — (not ‘defaulted’ as our bluenose chum states) Hearts employees have always received monies due. There have been delays but that’s not ‘defaulting’ This is in contrast to Rangers who were liquidated in order to default on all their creditors.

Shock!!! Horror!!! Cyberted uncovers another dark secret LOL

or is it his testicles have just dropped….

  • usabear says:

If sfa so worried about rangers not paying bills perhaps they should look in the mirror. We have had our sanctions for going into liquidation but still no line drawn!

    • porkypieman says:

      what “sanctions” are they buddy

    • Dilly Bodds says:

you’ve not been liquidated yet——that joy is still to come.

Let’s hope they do a better job for the taxpayer and the hard pressed hard working families of this country than the administrators did.

Saltcoats Victoria’s Victoria Park would surely be n alternate Saturdays!

  • Succulent Lamb says:

Always the victim, it’s never your fault

  • al says:

The reason is a delay in getting a TV deal done and who’s responsible for that? That’s right, Rangers.

Does Cyberturd really advocate that the police should go easy on all the serial criminals out there because they’ve been “done enough”? They should be taken to task on everything they’ve done just as Rangers should be.

This nonsense that “we’ve been punished enough” is contemptible.

    • Craig says:

It is not Rangers’ fault that the SPL could not negotiate a TV in a timely fashion – it was, afterall, the SPL who dragged out the 5 party agreement to the last second. There is plenty you can blame Rangers for without resorting to fantasy to scratch your itch. I even seen SPT blaming Rangers for the price increase on Subway tickets!

    • Jimmy says:

should Celtic be stripped of titles for their handling of the boys club scandal

    • Dilly Bodds says:

      Trueblue

my name is Bodds and my first name is Dilly—-what could possibly make you think I’m a Tim?

You accuse me of bile and hatred and then describe me as “low life scum”. What are you about?

Incidentally have you considered taking one of those courses available for people who have English as a second language?

  • usabear says:

Rangers are starting at the bottom again butgood to see 24,000 turned up on a tues night when live on tv and cl live on tv too. Highest crowd in uk that night. If crowds stay above 20k for lowest tier must be good.

    • porkypieman says:

  • Big James Knowles says:

    Hysterical.

One of thousands of companies in the country gets caught out by a criminal and has to get itself sorted after the event, which seems to say that the employees of that company, or indeed the club run by the comapny should all be hung out to dry.

    Strange.

Considering during the financial crash, the Govt were trying to recover billions owed and the country went into recession. I dont remember anywhere near this level of diatribe from the unwashed….. Maybe they didnt understand it, and they thought nobody but the bankers were at fault (dont blame the Govt or the laws). ITs not as important.

Then again, considering some people are able to wipe away one of the worst acts a human being can do to another, and hold their head “high” and try and look down on others merely clarifies how some people view the world and its right and wrongs.

    As I said, Hysterical.

Please. Proceed. I like a laugh during dinner breaks.

    • Dilly Bodds says:

This must be the most bizarre comment on the situation concerning the club formerly known as Rangers.

Does anybody even among the knuckledraggers know what he means?
