Yahoo recently surveyed some top Premier League managers of past and present, asking them, what Hollywood actor they’d want to play them in the movie of their life. As you can imagine, the question threw up some rather humourous answers. Take for instance, Mick McCarthy’s claims that Brad Pitt, would be the right man for the job. One of Hollywood’s biggest sex symbols and one of England’s most gruff old geezers – a match made in heaven?

You’d imagine he had his tongue firmly in his cheek when he answered that question.

But what about Manchester City gaffer, Roberto Mancini? He’s a man known for being stylish, suave and perhaps even a little cool. If you’d go along with that, you may well agree with his answer: James Bond.

That’s right – Mancini would like 007 to play him in the movie of his life. That’s amusing for a couple of reasons. First it’s a little odd that he’d make such a comparison (a little uncool, even). Second, it’s weird and a little nonsensical that he’d want his life to be portrayed by fictional character. Nonetheless…

Given that he’s drawn such parallels, I think it’s only fair that football’s coolest character gets put under the microscope.

The big question is as to whether he can re-capture the Premier League crown this season. He’s certainly going to face staunch competition. Sir Alex Ferguson has brought in an ascendant Robin Van Persie to help bolster his chances, whilst Roberto Di Matteo’s Chelsea side has looked pretty spectacular in the opening three matches.

Hell, even Arsenal may be in with a shot as they seem to have sorted out all their defensive issues.

But you’d have to say that Manchester City remain the favourites. They’ve spent a good deal on their squad and it shows. It’s got the most depth in the Premier League and Mancini’s first team options are probably the best out there (though I’m sure fans of other clubs would say otherwise).

Whilst Mancini complained about Manchester City’s lack of action in the summer, I think they generally did quite well. They brought in a few talented youngsters, such as Scott Sinclair and Jack Rodwell, whilst the addition of Javi Garcia will provide further competition in City’s midfield.

All in all, I’d say there’s good reason for Mancini to be feeling confident.
