I’m sure by now, that each and every Arsenal fan are tired of seeing their club’s captain linked with a move to Manchester United (or City, or Juventus, etc) and just want the entire saga to be over. Each and every day Twitter seems to be alive with a different rumour concerning Robin Van Persie. One day he’ll be having a medical with Manchester United, the next he’ll be seeing out the remainder of his contract with Arsenal. These turncoats latch onto any piece of information that’s out there in the ether and try and shift it to match their own agenda.

No doubt then, that these individuals will have taken recent comments from Olympiakos striker Kevin Mirallas as evidence that Arsenal are preparing for a life without the Dutchman. Indeed, I write this article in full knowledge of the fact that Arsenal may have already sold RVP by the time it gets published [Yes indeed – Editor]. Goal.com provide the quotes:

“There is still a chance I will move to the Premier League.  My agent is having talks with Arsenal, those rumours are true. Only Olympiakos is in the way. They want €8 million [£6m] and not a penny less. But if the move doesn’t come through, I am happy to stay in Athens.”

Whilst he’s been linked to the club for a couple of weeks now, these quotes provide some evidence that Arsenal’s interest is genuine. At the very least, the Gunners have made enquiries. And given that he’d cost Arsenal just €8m, I’m sure he’d be the kind of signing that Arsene Wenger just loves to give a rubber stamp to.

Despite his lack of experience in top Leagues, he’s a player with plenty of pedigree. In two seasons at Olympiakos, he has scored 34 goals in 52 games. That’s an extremely healthy return and it’s little wonder that clubs around Europe have sat up and taken notice.

Whilst he’s predominantly a centre-forward, he can also be deployed on either wing and asset that Arsene Wenger seems to approve of. He could be an extremely smart addition. Whether or not he’s coming to make up for RVP’s absence or to add strength in depth to the side, he’d fit in extremely nicely.

It’s difficult to predict just how the Gunners will fare next season, but if they keep making smart signings, they’re sure to make waves.

What’s your take? Would Kevin Mirallas be a good addition at the Emirates?

well if he is what it, Arsene should go ahead. But we should stop buying or grooming mercenaries and gluttons

Be nice if he was not going to everton.

Think he’s going to Everton as AW probably backed out or the player may not want to receive the same fate as our last years signing Park. The guy as yet hasn’t received a decent chance…..
So who can blame Mirallas if he didn’t sprint to get here not wanting to play the 3rd choice striker., Now by coincidence even as I write I hear on Talksport that our big summer signing Giroud starts on the bench v Sunderland, when I’m sure lots of Gooners would love to see him play.
But there again that’s AW all out and come to think of it if we have a bad season IT WILL BE ALL OUT!
