Would Liverpool come to regret letting him go?

It was almost inevitable that after his horrific debut season in a red shirt Andy Carroll would be linked with a move away from the Anfield.  That inevitability gathered pace further when Brendan Rodgers replaced Kenny Dalglish, the man who put £35’s worth of faith in him.  Rodgers style of football is perhaps the greatest contrast to Carroll’s bulldozer approach that you could find as the Geordie continues to be a square peg in a round hole.

It still seemed inconceivable though that Liverpool would just dispense of a player who cost them so dearly, surely you can’t move on a player who at just 23 has time on his side?  The possibility is beginning to become reality as reliable sources such as The Independent have entertained the idea of Carroll being moved on.

Rodgers wants to be ruthless, powerful and strong during his early days at Anfield but this may be a step to far for the Northern Irishman as the decision to part with the hulking striker would disappoint many of the Kop who watched the Geordie’s performances get better and better before culminating in impressive showings at the European Championships.

It cannot be denied though that it is very difficult to see how Carroll might fit into Liverpool’s new side.  It’s believed that Rodgers will employ a 4-3-3 system similar to the one used at Swansea.  The system will see each player float effortlessly around the pitch interchanging position with one another with ease.  The words ‘ease, floating and effortlessly’ are not terms you would tend to think of when describing the big number nines style as everything appears to be done with the maximum struggle and effort.

The interest in Roma’s Fabio Borini has also heightened in recent days and his arrival seems imminent (Source: The Mirror).  This would surely suggest further that Carroll is not apart of Rodgers plans going forward.  Borini is associated with the free flowing agile movement Rodgers craves and has impressed during his short time at Roma.  The Chance of Andy Carroll leaving Anfield is becoming extremely high.

The initial reaction if Carroll were to move on would be disappointment at what could have been.  Liverpool fans will be hoping the big Geordie doesn’t return to haunt them or turn into one of the best centre forwards England have produces, something he promises.

We’re not letting him go so why would we have cause to regret it.

I get so sick and tired of so called reporters, columnists, pundits and hackers filling column inches about something that they have either made up or cut and pasted from some other clowns paper/blogg.

I do wish they’d go and annoy Old Red nose for a change.

Carrol has to move on, there is no cause for alarm because he can’t play tiki taka, he only give’s us option.

  • El nino says:

Carrol is a good player no dout but matter’s is the style of football will suit him, from what we are observing concerning the style of football that rodgers want to introduce in liverpool fc will reduce the game time carrol wil ve, so it be a good thing for him to move on

  • nathan says:

let him go he was there when we were 8

  • Red Factor says:

These stories about Carroll are disgusting to say the least. The kid is only 23. If he is a good footballer then he can adapt to any kind of style; even tikki-takka. But how will we know if we don’t give him the chance? I think borini was bought as an addition to the striking force rather than a Carroll replacement. If liverpool bought joe allen would it be fair to say gerard must go because he is old and beginning to be injury prone? Not so long ago all sorts of junk was written and spoken about lucas but look at what he has achieved. When are we going to start showing our players true loyalty?

Carroll cost £35, means I can afford to buy him to play in my Sunday League team:D Regarding Carroll, no doubts he is a good player and a quality target man, but Liverpool are likely to let him go out on loan and as a Villa fan I would love to see Bent Carroll up front next season.
