Stick to it Arsene! Why Arsenal need to see through this £7.5m transfer:

Arsene Wenger’s clearly feeling significantly more pro-active than he was last summer. Internal wrangling aside, the Arsenal boss looked more content to sit, wait and watch his best players walk out the door, before finally taking action at the last possible moment. This summer’s different – whilst Robin Van Persie’s future is still uncertain, he has moved early for FC Koln’s Lukas Podolski and Montpellier’s Olivier Giroud.

Both players had top seasons last year and grabbed plenty of goals. They’ll provide great competition up front and this burst of energy from Wenger is extremely welcome. It’s breathed a fresh sense of purpose into Arsenal football club and got the fans feeling positive once more.

But surely there is more work to be done?

Whilst Arsenal’s midfield is extremely crowded, it’s not without its problems. Andrey Arshavin doesn’t have the energy or the motivation to play for a truly ambitious side. Aaron Ramsey lacks composure in front of goal and has a long way to go before he proves himself worthy. Abou Diaby and Tomas Rosicky are constant injury doubts. Jack Wilshere’s persistent set-backs are a real worry. Whilst Mikel Arteta and Alex Song round out the midfield nicely, I can’t help but feel that one player needs to leave and another player needs to be brought in, in this department.

Perhaps it’s time to wave goodbye to Andrey Arshavin and Abou Diaby who really aren’t contributing as much as they should?

And then Wenger should surely look to bring in a defensive midfielder who can provide Alex Song with a little competition. Song is a fine player (and he can craft a fine ball over the top) but he lacks discipline. For me, Yann M’Vila is the perfect solution.

I’m disheartened, thus, to see The Mirror claim that Arsenal have pulled out of a proposed move for the French international. Doubts over his temperament seem to have put the dampeners on his move to the Premier League. The 22-year-old has been in trouble before, but his latest antics involved a mini-strop after being substituted during France’s quarter-final defeat to Spain.

He ignored Laurent Blanc and refused to shake the subs hand. Not very impressive stuff, for sure. But the fact that he’s so eager needn’t be a bad thing. Wenger is great with developing young players. He’s the perfect coach to tame his temperament and get him working as a team player. He’s a fully fledged French International with a big future ahead of him and yet The Mirror claims he’d cost just £7.5m. Surely he’s worth a gamble at that price?

He’s tough, tenacious and he can pass the ball. He’s got Arsenal qualities, but he doesn’t have the Arsenal brittleness. That’s why I’d like to see Wenger snap him up.

What’s your take? Should Wenger continue to pursue M’Vila?

Right price & right player. I think Arsen needs M’villa regardless of his descipline status, send Ramsey & Diaby on loan then start to introduce Frimpong.

Who is this Samuel? Wenger is the most productive of all EPL Managers if you compare expenditure with results. Chelsea bought the Champion league trophy with more than $1b spent over 8 years and with reckless turnover of 7 managers . City bought the EPL crown with over $1b spent in 3 years and a turn over of 3 managers and a dubiously delayed kick off of the final match so that United can finish their game minutes before City’s to enable City score to get the crown. You must definitely lack respect for elders otherwise you would not cast aspersions on Wenger. FIFA that awarded him the coach of the decade knows better than you. Stop abusing people. Suggestions can be made without abuse. Learn to appreciate what is good. We do not need nomads of Manager like Mourihno whose entrance into EPL was the beginning of useless spending nor do we need the type of Rednapp whose indiscretion in buying players for the sake of competing ruined Porstmouth . However if you are very rich and knows not what to do with money like Abramovic and co, you could bankroll 4 world class signings for Arsenal for the next 10 years without trying to dictate terms like Usmanov. Learn simple decency.
