He’s one of the best young footballers in the world – so shouldn’t Arsenal snap him up?

It’s not that surprising I suppose. Santos’ contract rebel Paulo Henrique Ganso has been linked to just about every top European club over the last couple of weeks (including Chelsea and Tottenham) so it was only a matter of time before his name got mentioned in conjunction with Arsenal. Ever since Cesc Fabregas left the Emirates last summer, the feeling’s been there that the Gunners lack a little creativity in the centre of the park. Whilst Cesc, with his near limitless range of passing, could carve about the ball with ease, this fluency doesn’t come so naturally to the likes of Mikel Arteta and Alex Song.

Don’t get me wrong, Mikel Arteta’s still got it, and he’s an extremely consistent player, but he does seem to lack that ‘killer ball’. Aaron Ramsey looked half a player last season, so the impetus has been on Tomas Rosicky (who is mostly inconsistent due to injury) and Alex Song, who, let’s not forget, is a defensive midfielder. Whilst his balls over the top have been a site to behold, there’s still the feeling that work needs to be done here.

What’s more, Alex Song may not have Robin Van Persie to aim at next season.

That brings me to this story in the Daily Mail, which claims that the Gunners have emerged as ‘serious contenders’ for Ganso. Well, they’d better join the queue!

I hope that this is an area that Arsene Wenger is looking at this summer. They’ve been linked constantly to Rennes’ Yann M’Vila, but I can’t help but feel they should focus on a more attacking player. Sure, M’Vila can spray it about with the best of them, but he’s not on Ganso’s level.

Ganso, who has eight Brazilian caps, is known for his flair and quality in the centre of the park. At 22-years-old, he’s part of Brazil’s next generation and there’s a lot of hype surrounding the youngster. He’s direct, skilful and he makes things happen. He’s the kind of signing that could get fans excited again, whether or not Robin Van Persie decides to stick around.

The trouble is, he won’t come cheap. His wages will be extortionate. He’s a uniquely un-Arsenal signing. But that won’t stop me from dreaming. He’s maybe not the most realistic choice, but he’s probably the most exciting.

What’s your take? Would Ganso be a good addition? Is this transfer a no go?

i dont mean to be smart…but there is some truth to his writing…

    1. We dont really ne M’Villa since there’s bunch of a player like him in arsenal storeroom.

    2. We need a creative midfielder/attacking midfielder who can just break the defends and slick pass… just one of this will do the trick for us…

Get real we wudnt pay 20 million for this guy nevamind the 45 million release clause we only mentioned so they can lure chelsea or city mugs into making a bid, im sure we wanted m’vila but if we go on history we wont pay what they want, its sad when we making so much money from player sales that they dont reward fans with a marquee signing its the least the fans deserve after watchin fabregas, nasri and now probably rvp leave.
