Did this Manchester City star show his arrogance during this ‘Twitter rant’:

|

It had been widely reported last week that Tottenham had agreed a fee for the transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City following a successful loan spell last season. However, negotiations are on the verge of collapse due to the striker’s high wage demands.

City would like to clear Adebayor from their books to make room for the potential signing of Robin Van Persie, and Andre Villas-Boas would like to booster his striking options ahead of the new season. Reports now suggest the potential transfer of the striker that netted 18 times for the North London club last term is on the verge of collapse if the player doesn’t take a wage cut, and fall in line with Spurs chief Daniel Levy’s strict wage structure.

This has caused anger among both City and Spurs fans alike, one fan took to Adebayor’s official Twitter account to question the strikers motives and deemed him a “bench****”. The Togolese target man responded angrily, blasting the fan a “fool”.

Fans labelled the striker as greedy and arrogant following his comment on the social media site, and it remains to be seen if he is willing to take a pay-cut to push through a transfer to play regular first team football or weather he’d be willing to return to City where he’d be frozen out by Mancini and have limited opportunities on the pitch.

I don’t like Adebayor, howether if someone called you a benchfuck*r? or warmer etc what is wrong with calling him a fool. He should take a wage cut and he is selfish, but if someone said that to me I would tell them to f*ck off.

Sure he is greedy but MC made him that way with their stupid money splashing and deserve to be stuck with him until his contract ends.
He is a good footballer but not a world class one worth 175k/week..even 75k/week is too much as he misses so many chances. He works hard, no doubt but not for 100k/week extra.
I wonder if these guys ever think how lucky they are compered to the world best plumber or carpenter and yes they are finished by 32 but at even 50k/week I could handle that.

Sorry pal,MC didn’t make him greedy, they just matched his greed with a paydeal and expectation of the return he’d bring. It turned out to be a lousy deal for MC and a great one for Adebayor, who is amongst the more arrogant, opinionated and unlikeable of modern footballers and one who is happy to take the money without giving of his best.

City didn’t make him greedy, City gave him a huge contract which is less than those paid to Aguero, Tevez, Toure, Silva and Kompany. The difference is that those five are good enough to get into Mancini’s squad. Adebayor isn’t-he was a Hughes signing. It’s up to him whether he goes and plays, or stays and doesn’t. After all I imagine the wage offered by Spurs will be more per week than most fans earn in five years. So he won’t go hungry.

  • Colin SC says:

if we cant afford him we should just look for someone within our means. He is good but has a terrible reputation in his second season and I fear he will become our benchf**k if we sign him permanently after all he has doe exactly this in his previous two teams.

  • THFC4EVER says:

F~ck him off. He aint worth tuppence. For the money involved, there has got to be better than him.

  • Matt Wilson says:

He single handily funds numerous charities in Togo out of his own wages and has been doing this for years. Sitting on a bench and feeding thousands? I’d sleep easy too.

See, this is what’s wrong with Twitter. Supporters/fans have a license to say whatever they want anonymously, to the extent that they are wildly abusive, just to get a response out of the superstars. And when they do, they say, “See, I told you he was a (fill in the blank).”

It’s ridiculous. And all of you who are buying in to it need to get a life.

There’s a lot wrong with Twitter and Facebook et al, this era will come back to bite a great many people who will be reminded in future of their indiscretions. People in the public eye do it for self publicity and can’t have it both ways. Take it on the chin and be polite, it’s the only way to avoid grief!!

  • PatNevin says:

The guy insulted him and he responded, big deal. I have no problem with Ade for that. The problem i have is that he’s putting money, which he surely can’t be short of? before regular football. He’s probably thinking, or being told, that someone will come in for him and pay him what he’s getting at City. Not gonna happen. He doesn’t warrant that kind of wage, city had him on that money as a statement of intent and to make sure they got him, he had just had a great season for arsenal remember. Tottenham should look elsewhere now, or give him 48 hours to sign or take the offer away. Silly boy.

  • CiTyBlUe says:

Shut it Bill S. preston you plank.

Adebayor tried to hold Manchester City to ransom demanding the transfer fee.

He spent a season on the bench and didn’t even fecking bother to fight for a place, hes the laziest striker in the league.

It was only in the last season for City that he started to defend, if City gave him the transfer fee he would have gone to Tottenham Hotspur and City would have got nothing.

How the feck is that fair considering City have been paying a majority of his wages just to give him what he wanted, he wanted out of City and was given it.

Now he wants a pay off, he can go feck himself and you can too Bill you biatch.

  • Spudley dudley says:

Why should he take a wage cut ?? U F n tight ass Js from tottenham???when he can ride out his contract .. He will find another club after his city contract is up… So what if his frozen for a year .. He still gets payed to do F all.. Would u take a pay cut??? And worst of pay cut and tottenham … Yr better sitting on the bench or at home then going to a tight ass club like tottenham …

    • Alphie_Izzett says:

Would I take a pay cut?
If I was being paid £7million a year but was unhappy at my place of employment but could move to another employer for £4million a year and be happy in my work and ‘lurved’ by thousands of the great unwashed Lunnoners, I would.

  • Golden Porker says:

Adebayor fell out of favour when he refused to boot up when asked to saying “I am not going on with only 5 minutes left”.

Typical of his ‘can’t be arsed’ attitude.

That said the low transfer fee was in part to compensate for the high salary it was thought the Spuds were going to pay him.

Sounds like as much Levy sharp practice as Adebayor greed. A match made in heaven methinks.
