Do measures need to be taken against the Arab Trust following the sectarian abuse of Hearts & Rangers?

It’s good to see the new dawn that has risen over this fresh era in Scottish football. We were told that the death of Rangers would end sectarianism in Scottish football. So much for that – it seems that the Arab Trust has woken up and got out of bed on the wrong side this morning. A quick look at their official website reveals that perhaps we were a little naïve in suggesting that Rangers were the sole exponents of bigotry in Scotland.

The Arab Trust have published on their official website the fixture list for next season and can’t even bring themselves to put the proper names of the two perceived protestant teams on the fixture list. Instead they have used the word Hun, a sectarian name for Protestants in Scotland and Northern Ireland, the main fan base of both the Glasgow and Edinburgh clubs.

It is a shame that the Arab Trust feels that it needs to use sectarianism to abuse both Rangers and Hearts. The anti-bigotry organisation Nil By Mouth, who are funded by the Scottish Government have stated that the term Hun is sectarian. Dundee United started life as the Dundee Hibs and it seems that after all these years they have never managed to shake off the influence of their football cousins, the Glasgow and Edinburgh Hibs.

It is the responsibility of all decent fans in Scotland to highlight the bigotry that runs through the Arab Trust. The Arab Trust statement calling Hearts fans Huns goes straight to the top of the Scottish Government, as our First Minister Alex Salmond is a Hearts fan. I wonder how the First Minister feels about being labelled a Hun, as he was influential in bringing in legislation, The Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threating Communications (Scotland) Act 2012, to stamp out the type of sectarianism being spouted here. The Arab Trust needs to be closed down, but alas nothing will happen because Scotland is a country still riddled with casual racism and sectarianism. A brave new dawn indeed.

Isn’t that a tweet that was dug out around 18 months ago?

Just looked, they don’t even use that Twitter profile photo any more and why would they include Rangers in opening day fixtures when they’ve got no chance of being in the SPL?

The timing of this article is pretty transparent given that ArabTRUST were instrumental in Dundee United’s no to newco stance on only one night before this article was published.

It says it all that the writer talks about Dundee Hibernian – that tells you all that you need to know about where this bigot is coming from.

It’s staggering that a Rangers fan has the gaul to write about sectarianism when his club was in trouble with FARE (again) as recently as April last year.

This article is nothing more than a biter attempt to discredit an organisation that’s hurt, or perceived to have hurt, his liquidated club. Complete and utter lies have been weaved around a screenshot.

Can’t believe This Is Football have published this utter croc. I’m sure ArabTRUST are awaiting a writ any day now, or perhaps not given that ‘hun’ isn’t a sectarian word – all it mean is ‘football fan who defines themself by unionist politics/values.’
