After 7 years of no trophies, no big signings, and injuries to some of Arsenal’s best players at the worst possible time, will luck never be on Arsenal’s side?

It’s a figure that has been used over and over throughout the media. Arsenal haven’t won a trophy in seven years. The empty trophy cabinet has been a real bone of contention in and around the Emirates. What other top club can has found success evading them at every possible opportunity?

Every year it’s the same. Arsene talking up the summer, and the over-used word ‘potential’ being used….again, some fans are wondering, when will it all change?

Chelsea, the two Manchester clubs and even Liverpool consistently spend large amounts of money, while the Arsenal board make do with bargain basement signings.

While it is understandable that the club are still recovering, financially, from the move away from Highbury to the Emirates, Arsenal remains one of the richest clubs in the world.

However… this season, it would seem that Arsene and especially Ivan Gazidis, understand how big this summer is. Question’s will be raised throughout the summer about Arsenal’s ambitions for the future.

But for the first time in a while, it appears that Arsene has entered the summer DETERMINED not to have a repeat, of specifically, last summer. Arsenal’s players of the season departed and the club went on a mad dash on deadline day to try to please some fans… But coming straight after the 8-2 loss, some fans weren’t going to be happy until big names came.

While the signings have all played a crucial part to Arsenal’s third place finish (a place much higher than expected) the fans are waiting for their first big signing since Arshavin in February 2009.

With Olivier Giroud on his way, and Podolski already at the club and some other big names linked, has the tide FINALLY turned in Arsenal fans’ favour? Of course, the proof will be in the pudding, but Arsene Wenger seems to have put together quite a few tasty ingredients and the signs are there that improvements could be made next season.

So are Arsenal fans finally starting to believe again?

I hate to be picky but, we have made big signings in the last seven years?! What do you call Arshavin? Nasri? Vermaelen? Rosicky?

    • Imran Fahiya says:

Arsenal made them the stars they were and were not established at their own clubs.

TC the only player out of those that was an established player when Arsenal signed him was Arshavin. Vermaelen, Rosicky, Nasri were playing well in their league but were not top stars when Arsenal signed them. However they have showed that they are world class players after a couple of years. Arsenal need to buy the current best players rather than looking for players that they can develop
    in to the best players
