A swap deal made in heaven for Arsenal?

|

Of all the out of sorts players inhabiting Arsenal football club’s stable of no-hopers, Marouane Chamakh is surely first and foremost. After a scintillating start to his Arsenal career, his fortune soon waned and he’s been struggling ever since. He may have been a free transfer, but big wages and his inability to provide the Gunners with a much needed option have often cost the club big. The question now is not, ‘will he come good?’ but ‘when can we get rid of him?’

I have little doubt that Arsene Wenger would be prepared to sell should the right offer came in. I personally would be prepared to sell if any offer came in. The trouble, I assume is attracting potential suitors. He’s a player that hasn’t got any form whatsoever – hardly an attractive prospect.

Which brings me to a story run by The Mirror that suggests that Arsenal have agreed a £13m fee for Montpellier’s star striker Olivier Giroud. That’s pretty good news in and of itself, but that’s not the best part – they also claim that Chamakh will head to the Ligue 1 champions as part of the deal.

As sad as it is to see players fail to make it in the Premier League, you can’t help but feel Chamakh, an ex-Bordeaux boy could use a move back to France. He needs a change of scenery, a chance for more game time and the opportunity to prove himself if he’s going to get his career back on track.

Giroud on the other hand, is a player who’s on the up. His 21League goals last season fired his club side to their the Ligue 1 title and grabbed the attention of all and sundry. He’s a powerful presence, who can dominant in the air and hold the ball up along the ground. He’s not your quintessential Arsenal striker, but as Arsene Wenger attempts to establish a happy balance within his team that may be no bad thing.

What’s important here is that the Gunners would be trading a player whose fortunes are dwindling for a player who only appears to be on the up. It’s the kind of transfer that could get Arsenal fans feeling good about their club again.

Of course, there’s no evidence as of yet that the Mirror’s claims are true. But that won’t stop Arsenal fans from hoping that it is.

Problem now is: Montpellier want to eat their cake and have it! They want the cash from Giroud and a loan deal for Chamakh.

This thing about addressing chamack as a flop onestly gets on my nerve, you are not being fair with your comments, fact is he was not given enough playing time,so he could’nt realy show what he is worth, nobody on planet earth can prove his worth with 5 or 10 minutes on the pitch.the same goes for park, can you really judge him?

Even with giroud and poldoski,Arsenal still have to twek their tactics and perform defensively much, much better. Otherwise all will go to waste.Take for example the gunners laborious link up and passing game.
That is why th e rf once famously said he knew the gunners game plan except Wenger. True to his words ,he waited in ambush style like a cobra when the gunners attack foundered or broke down. A swift break out and the ball is in the gunners net. This leaves Wenger scratching his head.
Unbelievable. The gunners had dominated but failed to score thru over elaboration and the enemy’s strong defnce.
Hopefully with Bould,it could be a different Arsenal.
