Does Arsenal’s exiled Brazilian deserve another shot in the Premier League?

Denilson and Diaby have under performed in the centre of Arsenal's midfield this seasonIt’s easy to forget Denilson is still an Arsenal player at times. He went back to Brazil on loan and it all went silent but as the season nears it’s end and the transfer window opens again, suddenly Denilson is back on the agenda. Will he stay? Should he stay? Or is he just another deadwood player that needs to be shipped out. I wouldn’t go as far to say he is deadwood, but I think his time has come and gone. Younger, and frankly better players, are emerging from Arsenal’s youth set up. Something Denilson doe’s not have the ability to compete with.

That said, this is a player who has amassed over 150 apperances for Arsenal since he first joined in 2006. The Brazilian has had his fair share of oppurtunities at Arsenal but at times he has been poor, very poor. Of course he has put in some good performances but the club strives for more success and Denilson is not the sort of player that can bring it. Selling him won’t generate a vast amount to splash around on new signings but the money could be used better elsewhere. Wages are also high on the agenda at Arsenal now, after their strict wage rules were scrapped following Tomas Rosicky’s 2 year contract extension and the high wages being offered to Van Persie.

It’s fairly simple in my eyes, sell on those that won’t be used and put the money down to better uses. Simple enough. Fans are calling out for new signings to be bought in, but I think the majority of transfer activity around the Emirates this summer will be exporting rather than importing. Denilson is just one player, arguably amongst many, that should leave Arsenal this summer. He simply is not good enough, I can’t see him fighting his way back into the team. There’s too many players in his way now. Wilshere, Ramsey, Rosicky, Song, Arteta, Benayoun. Denilson is not better than any of these, in fact he would probably struggle getting a run out in the Carling Cup.

This may all seem harsh but I’m certain there are many fan out there that will agree with what I’m saying. We want success, we want world class players, we want household names, we want trophies. We don’t want bit part players. Denilson needs to go, and I think he will. I’m expecting his loan in Brazil to be made permanent in the summer and wish him the best of luck. Unfortunately, North London is simply not where he should be.

I wouldn’t have any of our dross (Almunia, Denilson, Abu Diaby, Bendtner, Squillaci, Chamakh nor Arshavin, I would also suggest Walcott) back in our team. Let’s got shot and make a few bob on them (I would suggest a fire sale!!). Bring in new players who might actually want to play for Arsenal and we can offer CL football. We’ve started with Podolski so let’s go out and get a couple of other good players and if it costs money so be it, but most importantly we need to ensure RvP stays with a pay rise.

He has definitely had his chances and along with Alumunia, flappyhandski, squeakylacci, Chamkh, Arsharvin and Vela needs to be shown the door. Park hasnt had enough chances to show his worth – so I think Wenger will hang on to him for another season but only if Bendtner decides to leave (I get the impression that Wenger is keen for him to stay and fight for a place). Walcott, although inconsistent is well worth keeping around. Gervinho on the other hand doesnt just look average for Arsenal – he looks like an average premier league player (I want to be proved wrong on this). In any case – players are likely to leave before more come in

Part of me would like to see him learn from Arteta as i think he is the type of player he should aspire to become. People tend to forget that he was a very promising player when he arrived but bad management on the part of Wenger destroyed his confidence.
It would be nice to see him have somebody experienced along side him rather than fellow youngsters. It would also be a perfect chance to loan out Ramsey, who quite frankly could do with a year or so at the likes of Bolton or Sunderland, somewhere he could make his mistakes at somebody elses expense.

John, you are right. That young star had a promisng future with ARSENAL but the problem is Wenger style of management. There are more deadwoods,eg.Ramsy,Asharvin,Sharmak.These boys must be loaned, they are doing nothing.

he deserves another shot in the PL after he joins Man City or Tottenham.

Arsenal wants household names this,Arsenal wants world class players that.No Team on earth has more dellusioned fans than my beloved Arsenal.Do any of you ever compare the Arsenal squad to other teams with so called superstar signings?I bet you do,and you probably think downing is better than gervinho who is more expensive.I have never encountered a fanbase that actualy underestimates its own players. Not every team is made up of stars only, not even the invincible was full of world class players, not even the current man city squad.Teams with world class players are at Barca,Bayern and Madrid, but Chelsea are in the champions league final.Look at Jon Obi Mikel,he was criticised by comentators and pundits who know nothing about what makes a good player,he is going on about his business with sideways and backwards passes, but was still the best chelsea player in the semi against barca. He is easily ignored when playing well, but players like him are hard to find,he plays the simplest football just like Guardiola and EDU used to,all very underestimated. Some people hate him for such stupid reasons and then say Wenger doesnt know tactics. I find it funny that a country that praises such a useless player like Scott Parker can find anything wrong in Denilson.

    no way

I’d rather burn in hell than see Denilson back in an Arsenal shirt
