Why this transfer gamble could catapult Liverpool back into the top four:

Whilst this may seem somewhat reactionary on the basis of his powerhouse performance against Arsenal, I am genuinely astounded that Victor Moses continues to ply his trade at Wigan. He’s been with the Latic’s since January 2010 and has been the club’s stand out player ever since (besides Charles N’Zogbia and Hugo Rodallega). Usually by now a big team would have swooped in and plucked him up but somehow he hasn’t been summoned into the upper echelons of the Premier League.

Whilst he’s benefited from the extra game-time that he’s afforded by playing for Wigan, the time feels right for him to move on, start vying for trophies and start grabbing opportunities on the big stage.

At just 21-years-old Moses really does have all the attributes it takes to become a star. He’s pacey, strong, tenacious, makes intelligent runs and has boundless energy. All that’s really missing is goals. He has a tendency to snap at shots (7 goals in 74 appearances is a damning statistic) but this is something that can be worked on with coaches and ironed out over time. He’s still got plenty of developing to do and if he focuses on improving this aspect of his game, he has every chance of making it.

England’s closed door policy saw him elect to play for Nigeria, despite the fact that he’d played for the Three Lions at U16, U17, U19 and U21 level. This is a player who has shown ability at just about every level of the game and is continuing to come good.

GiveMeFootball have claimed that Tottenham and Liverpool are two likely destinations for the fleet footed forward. Moses has already confessed that it’s unlikely he’ll stay if Wigan get relegated, whilst if they do stay up his future will still remain in doubt. He’s got proven Premier League experience, clearly evident ability and wouldn’t come with an exorbitant price-tag.

I can’t help but feel that he’d be a good fit at Liverpool. He fits FSG’s criteria perfectly and he could provide the Reds with the brute force they lack going forward. His pace and power make him really difficult to deal with (just ask Mr. Consistent Bacary Sagna) and Liverpool could us a little more cut and thrust.

Whilst his lack of goals is perturbing (Liverpool desperately need goals) because he wouldn’t break the bank, the Red’s could then afford to bring in a natural centre-forward to help ease the goal-scoring burden.

I think this is a somewhat similar case to the gamble that Sir Alex Ferguson made on Antonio Valencia (who was also a Wigan player) which paid off impressively in the end. If Liverpool want to work their way back up to the top they may have to do it through a similar venture – so let’s hope Kenny’s paying attention.

progress over the past 2 1/2 years – to say he has been our stand out performer since 2010 is false – he has only properly broke into the side this year and his game and decision making still leaves a lot to be desired. He is half the player nzogbia was and look what happened when he left. that’s not to say with time he will improve but leaving now is the wrong time – too much would be expected too soon. no way would he fire Liverpool to the top. maybe in 3-5years but he needs at least another season of regular premiership football under a settled manager where he has time and patience to progress. the grass isn’t always greener – just ask nzogbia, chimbonda, ellington, bullard, palacios….

Moses and Rodallega stand out performers?

If your going to write, don’t do it on what you have read elsewhere…

Moses has only just got in the team this season … Rodallega has been rubbish for a couple of years his contract expires at the end of the season and nobody seems to be waiting in the wings….

But also i couldn’t think of a worse team than Liverpool for needing moses… Suarez is a ten times better version you even admit you need a goal scorer which he is not….

Bob on Adam, Valencia was far more advanced than Moses when he left and United know how to get these lads ready to play at the very top level.

Despite what this article says Moses was a bit part player last season and has featured a lot more now N’Zog gone but still a long way from the finished article – while direct, quick & skilful on the flipside he’s short sighted, greedy (not always a bad thing, but in Victors case its often at the wrong times) and his shootings average at best.

Another season at Wigan and let’s see how he develops and if he’s there then fair play and everyone would wish him the best but I just hope he doesn’t let this agent talk him into a move before he’s ready so he can get his pound of flesh.

That’s all Liverpool need, another one that can’t find the back of the net.

    Next please.

The last thing we need is another player who looks one for the future, lets deal with the present instead of worrying too much abt the future and at the moment we need no nonsense and proven goal scorer may be even two strikers with Dirk Kuyt likely to be heading for the exit .
