Montpellier’s bid to win their first Ligue 1 title sees them face Toulouse on Friday, whilst second place PSG play Lille on Sunday.

Montpellier who last lifted a major trophy in 1990 are currently top of Ligue 1 by two points with five games to play. But with big spending PSG hot on their heels many predict Montpellier to falter. Can they stay the course or wil they fall at the last hurdle?

Even though they have shown impressive resolve, manager Rene Girard admits they are feeling the pressure: “It’s extra pressure. We must learn to manage it all for a young team, which hasn’t proven anything yet. I tell them every day, we have not won anything, they are two points clear and 15 still remain (available), it is more complicated.”

Toulouse who sit in seventh in the table have lost their last three of four matches. One of these included a 2-1 defeat to Evian TG on Saturday.

Come Sunday evening PSG could find themselves five points adrift of table topping Montpellier.

Lille have been proven be difficult to beat this season and PSG face a tough challenge for the title. This has been proven with their pivotal form at the Stade Lille- Metropole venue and only losing four in 53 Ligue 1 fixtures. Eden Hazard has been in particularly fine form this season grabbing an impressive 16 goals from down the flanks.

However with this stunning form at home the PSG side a face difficult task with an indifferent away form.

This might change though as on Sunday they thrashed second bottom Sochaux 6-1 give them a lift into the next match. With five attackers on the score sheet this should be encouraging.

Sunday also sees Ajaccios bid to avoid the drop when they travel to an inform Rennes, while Saint-Etienne push for a Europa League spot.

Even though the top of the league is set nicely so is the bottom with Auxerre who sit bottom and are six points from safety. They take on18th place Brest in a six point relegation battle and fellow strugglers Souchaux face Bordeaux at home. At the moment things are very much in balance at the top and bottom of the League. As players like Hazard, Belhanda and Giroud continue to impress, however, we’ll continue to pay attention,
