OK, this may well seem like an over exaggeration of the current state of affairs at Anfield but quite frankly it’s a reality check to those who feel the club are genuinely progressing in all quarters.  Yes, the club may have won the League Cup and yes, they may be favourites to win the FA cup as well but their league form and in particular the performances of their recently acquired players are a definite cause for concern.  The latest disappointing result came at the hands of QPR where they inexplicably surrendered a two goal lead to lose 3-2 at one of League’s worst clubs and in turn they have put an end any hopes they had of Champions League football next year.

Liverpool have proved to be the basis of much talk around the tabloids and also various forum websites as their disappointments this season continue to pile up; the club spent a lot of money in the summer to ensure Champions League qualification and achieving that is not forthcoming and is therefore cause for much debate.

The clubs signing’s have undeniably flopped; Stewart Downing has his moments but more disappointing ones than exciting ones, Jordan Henderon has failed to influence games and Andy Carroll is, well, Andy Caroll.  Furthermore Charlie Adam is yet to perform anything like he did at Blackpool and seems to feel the need to compensate his sluggish movement by giving away constant silly free kicks.  It’s left to Luis Suarez, Craig Bellamy and to a lesser extent Jose Enrique to give any sort of Suggestion Damien Comolli and Kenny Dalglish got it right in the transfer market.  A success rate of less than 50% in the market is not something either man can be proud of.

So with the club’s season pretty much over barring the FA cup why not give some of the exciting youngsters coming through at Melwood a chance?  The academy is quietly optimistic that the latest crop of players can break into the first team in the near future unlike previous years.  The likes of Suso, Raheem Sterling, Adam Morgan and Connor Coady are all names which are likely to become more familiar to us at some point soon, so why not introduce them bit by bit at the end of this season?

Adam Morgan for one has been talked about in the same breath as Robbie Fowler as a player able to poach anything around the six-yard box and a lethal finisher.  That type of player is exactly what Liverpool need at the moment with Andy Caroll yet to fire and seemingly running out of time too.  Luis Suarez despite all his qualities seems to be determined to miss or hit the post when posed with an opportunity meaning that poacher type striker could prove to be the difference in the final weeks of the season.

Of course the belief that an academy player – no matter how talented they are – could seamlessly come into the side and perform is incredibly optimistic but perhaps Dalglish should give serious consideration to promoting one of these youngsters prematurely into a misfiring Liverpool side.

Unfortunately managerial staff do not have the footballing intelligence to see that their present team is falling about their ears. It is crumbling like a dries rusk in a babies’ bowl. They were assured prior to signing that those they wanted were second rate and over-priced yet that did not deter them. They live in an alternate universe where all they believe is showered in star dust when in our world it is showered in crumbling dust and ash. There will be no change any time soon as “the usual suspects” will be rounded up to explain the humiliation of the Wigan defeat. You are NOT entitled to criticize the “King” as his knowledge passeth all understanding etc. etc.
Welcome to the mid to lower table Anfield!

What i find amazing is that when Rafa was sacked, he got us a further 21 points from where we are now. 18Wins, 9Draws and 11Losses… Was unable to spend the money he needed to re invest in the club, but made a mistake by signing an injured Aquilani (who when did play showed some skills!)
Dalglish and Comolli on the other hand have spent around 115m and for what??? Sterling showed more tonight than Carroll has since wearing a reds shirt and look at the price tag difference!
Finally Flanagan gets another crack and does well! Shelvey who is a much better player than Henderson scrapes in with a limited game and shows more than Henderson has!
It shows that our youth was already good and we should have bought quality and made up squad numbers with our youth…
Now NESV must be so scared in investing money after this PATHETIC season! Expectation was HUGE with funds and new owners… It has been so disappointing as a fan to watch week in week out!
    🙂

Time to remove those rose tinted glasses and see that the ‘King’ is out of depth! He nees to do the honourable and resign. He can’t take us anyway!
