Steven Gerrard after his performance against Everton has forced us to ask the question:

“Is Steven Gerrard the Best Liverpool Player Ever”

Now as an avid football fan I know a lot about football, however i’m not too clever on football before my 15th Birthday. I had no positive male role model in my life to show me the joys of football.

I can however tell you that he is the best Liverpool player that I have ever seen. That doesn’t mean that there was a lack of Talent:

  • Fernando Torres: He joined Premier League club Liverpool in 2007 after signing for a club record transfer fee. He marked his first season at Anfield by being Liverpool’s first player since Robbie Fowler in the 1995–96 season to score more than 20 league goals in a season. Torres became the fastest player in Liverpool history to score 50 league goals after scoring against Aston Villa in December 2009. He left the club in January 2011 to join Chelsea for a record British transfer fee of £50 million, which also made him the most expensive Spanish player in history. Scoring 65 Goals in 102 Appearances for his club.

  • Michael Owen:Owen began his senior career at Liverpool in 1996. He progressed through the Liverpool youth team and scored on his debut in May 1997. In his first full season in the Premier League he finished as joint top scorer with 18 goals. He repeated this the following year and was Liverpool’s top goal scorer from 1997–2004, despite a recurring hamstring injury. In 2001, Liverpool won a cup treble of the UEFA Cup, FA Cup and Football League Cup, and Owen was the recipient of the Ballon d’Or. He went on to score 118 goals in 216 appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool. Scoring 118 in 216 games for Liverpool
  • Robbie Fowler:He is best remembered for his playing days at Liverpool and is the fourth-highest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League. Fowler scored 183 goals in total for Liverpool, 128 of which were scored in the Premier League (162 Premier League goals in total). He subsequently played for Leeds United and Manchester City, before returning to Liverpool in January 2006. 266 Games 128 Goals in his Liverpool Career.
  • Steven Gerrard: Gerrard, who has spent his entire career at Anfield, made his début in 1998 and cemented his place in the first team in the 2000–01 season, succeeding Sami Hyypiä as Liverpool team captain in 2003. His honours include two FA Cup wins, three League Cup wins, a UEFA Cup win, and a UEFA Champions League win in 2005. In 2005, Gerrard came third in the voting for Ballon d’Or, given to the top player in Europe.

There have been a lot of amazing players at liverpool but with 400 appearances he is without doubt one of the longest standing and most achieving of the modern times. He is without doubt one of their best players, but with amazing stats the other players on the list it really is hard to pick a best out of that list.

torres and owen wouldnt even get close to the bench of our greatest ever players, infact remove them two and put in xabi alonso, and pepe reina. they may have scored less goals, but where/are awesome at what they did. owen was a one trick pony, run fast and chip, and torres was great for like a season and a half, but to include him in a list of our greatest is laughable.
