Despite his talent it’s time for Arsenal to look elsewhere in the transfer market:

There are very few youngsters as highly rated in world football as Mario Goetze. The 19-year-old has managed to attract the attention of clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona despite a rather off putting £30m price tag. That should be some testament to his ability at such a young age.

He’s a versatile midfielder, capable of playing as an attacking central-midfielder or out on the right wing. He’s got a heck of a lot in his locker – his technical ability is remarkable, he’s got great speed of thought and acts quickly on the pitch. He’s got vision and flair and is more than capable of providing the central creative outlet for whichever club he’s a part of.

Goetze is a product of Borussia Dortmund’s youth academy (he has been with the club since eight years old) and has worked hard to climb up through the ranks and achieve regular Bundesliga football. He’s already made 52 appearances and scored 11 goals which is pretty extraordinary for a midfielder his age. It’s little wonder then that there are so many top clubs chasing his signature.

But they’re all going to be disappointed. Mario Goetze recently signed a new contract with Dortmund that will run until 2016. He’s quoted as saying: “Everyone knows how comfortable I am at Dortmund. I want to be part of the club’s development.”

So that’s that then. More or less every rumour concerning Arsenal mentioned Goetze in some way. For a long period of time it looked as though he, along with FC Koln’s Lukas Podolski was the Gunner’s main transfer target. Now Arsenal (and the media’s rumour creation unit) will have to look elsewhere.

I can’t say that I’m all that disappointed. Whilst I rate Mario Goetze as a player, £30m is a heck of a lot to spend on a 19-year-old. There’s no guarantee he’ll continue to develop at the same rate or that he wouldn’t struggle to adapt to English football. I’m not sure Goetze even fancied a move to the Premier League. He’s spoken favourably about Arsenal before, but clearly loves Dortmund whilst also being somewhat smitten with Barcelona.

What’s more Arsenal’s midfield is already a pretty crowded place. Do the Gunners really need another youngster in the mix?

Shouldn’t the main concern be finding a couple of decent striking partners for Robin Van Persie? With the Goetze rumours done and dusted it’s time to get priorities right and start searching for the right acquisitions.

I must say our priorities must be
1). retaining RVP ( He scores when he likes)
2).getting in capable goal scorer that can also shouder goal scoring responsibilities incase RVP needs rest, or even play along side him from the wings.
3). Creative midfielder- lets not forget that we lost wilshere cos he played more than 45matches for club and country laat season, which was too much for that age. So we need another creative force in that middle, bcos aside Wilshere (whom we shouldnt over burden) and a rejuvenated Rosicky( who we must also pamper cos of his injury history), there’s absolutely noone else. Pls dont mention Ramsey and Eisfeld not ringin any bell to worth commenting. Thus we Should go after an expirience creative force- eg Dzagoev- that wont be expensive (€12) but he is top quality. He’ll provide good competition and better substitution in games with teams that park the bus.
    In summary
    1. Poldoski or Giroud or Demba ba
    2. Dzagoev or marko marin
    3. KEEPER
