Is this Liverpool youngster set to follow in Michael Owen and Robbie Fowlers footsteps?

Not many of you would have heard of this youngster from Liverpool but it’s about time you began to familiarise yourself with the name Adam Morgan.  Much has been made of Liverpool’s inability to put the ball in the back of the net this season and perhaps it’s time this starlet got the chance to prove that he is the man to turn Kenny Dalglish’s side’s fortunes around.

Liverpool have desperately been missing a player to poach endlessly in and around the penalty area and feed on rebounds and scraps.  For all of Luis Suarez’s brilliance he doesn’t appear to be that out and out goalscorer Liverpool need to move on to that higher level, perhaps a partnership with this youngster could act as a perfect foil.

The Liverpool born academy graduate is only just 18 and perhaps represents Liverpool’s best chance of promoting a deadly, instinctual striker into the first team since the likes of Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen.  Both of those men were undeniably world class strikers during their peak and if Morgan could replicate them in just the slightest he would no doubt be on his way to making a name for himself at Anfield.  Morgan has been quietly impressive on Melwood and with 21 goals coming in his debut campaign it appears his predatory instincts and flawless finishing are beginning to make Dalglish and his reserve team setup stand up and take a serious look at Morgan.

The youngster continues to play regularly for Rodolfo Borrell’s Under 18’s side and has also represented England at the Under 17 World Cup Championship’s.  The eighteen year old has already achieved landmarks and impressive representations but nothing will please him more than breaking into the Liverpool first team.  The player who once scored 80 goals in a season – admittedly as a 10 year old – seems to be destined to emulate his hero Robbie Fowler and it would take a brave man to bet against it.

If Morgan were to break into the Liverpool side it could also save the club a lot of money, money that they perhaps don’t have in abundance.  Having broken the bank for Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez – who have both had contrasting Anfield careers so far – it appears unlikely that the owners will be willing and also financially able to sanction further investment into a top class striker.  Morgan would instead represent a player costing nothing but with the ability to become an Anfield great.

Only time will tell if Adam Morgan can achieve what is being predicted of him but the early signs all point to one direction, The direction towards the Kop and its adoring fans.

I agree honest Lisbon made them look second rate too but maybe Sterling and Wisdom can make it.

Yes please…..Adam Morgan defo, straight into 1st team along with Raheem Sterling for the remaining EPL games…no little 5 or 10 min cameos here and there Kenny,we need goals and quick…hell,we`re not gonna finish 6th,in fact if we don`t beat Newcastle we may on current form finish outside top 10!!!!A lucky Carling Cup win against a Championship side NOT GOOD ENOUGH(on current form,do we really expect to win FA Cup as well???).Just being realistic here folks, give Morgan and Sterling a 1st team call up in place of Caroll and Henderson, also Suso and Shelvey on the bench for Newcastle and beyond…C`mon Kenny, show some faith in our much lauded youngsters..hell,whata we gotta lose…except more EPL games if we don`t make drastic changes NOW!!!

Too early to tell I remember Neill Mellor banging in a ton of goals at youth and reserve level

That’s rubbish about Liverpool may not be having the cash. We’ve just signed huge sponsorship and shirt deals.
The club has always made money. Only when the two cowboys were in charge was that money diverted away from the club.
We are one of the richest clubs in the world who hasn’t got a sugar daddy.

I’m sure Kenny has seen lots of Morgan. He’d be training with the seniors regularly.

Kenny always has given kids a chance. He is of the “if they’re good enough, they’re old enough” brigage. Remember Fowler was actually a product of the Kenny years and Kenny famously took Robbie home to Toxteth when Robbie was about 15. There is no doubt Kenny would have given Robbie his chance if he hadn’t quit in 91.

  • Oldman says:

Lisbon played their best young players whilst Liverpool left players like Shelvey, Robinson & Flanagan out. With those 3 playing the game would have been a much closer contest.
However, Morgan is a long way from 1st team football, having hardly played for the reserves.
He was physically over whelmed by Lisbon (as were many of the other reds players)and he needs to build up his physique and stamina before being considered for first team football.
