Would the rumoured departure of Luis Suarez really be so bad for Liverpool?

The diminutive forward joined Liverpool to replace Fernando Torres.  Torres’ departure brought similar feelings that the Spaniard would never be replaced after making such a name for himself at Anfield.  However, these were soon banished as Suarez scored on his debut against Stoke making himself an instant hero on Merseyside.

So Liverpool had a new talisman that carried on to impress the Liverpool faithful throughout the rest of the season as he played a major part in the revival under Kenny Dalglish.  The season was over and Liverpool and there fans looked forward to how Suarez may inspire them to new heights the next season, but this hasn’t quite transpired the way they might have been hoping.

This seasons stats have not been quite so impressive, Suarez has six goals and one assist from twenty games from a total of eighty-six shots, a poor conversion rate for a player of his quality.  These stats may come as something as a surprise though as Suarez always seems so busy and alive in and around the box creating chances for him and other team-mates, its clear he must do something to resurrect these stats and soon as Liverpool continue to push towards Champions league qualification, a deep necessity to the American owners.

Suarez is undoubtedly important to the way Liverpool play but with the bare facts of his Anfield goal scoring record would his departure really leave Liverpool in such dire straights?  No is the answer as Liverpool are set to prepare for another summer of arrivals.

They could receive something in the region of thirty-five to forty million for a man who was bought for a mere twenty two million and would be able to reinvest the sum into a player with a better disciplinary record and goal-scoring one as well.   A player who is able to finish moves more reliably may be on the cards for Liverpool as they could lose the former Ajax man due to the growing hostile attitude towards him from the crowd and media.

Suarez is vital to Liverpool but so was Fernando Torres, his predecessor.  Fans have short memories and as long he is replaced wisely the rumoured departure of Luis Suarez may not be desperate for Liverpool as some people may make out.

no matter what is said, try getting another striker of his talents with no CL football, and a midfield consisting of charlie adam, jay spearing, jordan henderson and stewart downing….
i am fully behind luis suarez, and if we want to attract top players, we need players like luis suarez in order to attract more marquee signings. i will not be happy if we have andy carroll and another over rated english striker up front, it would be sould destroying for Liverpool to lose such a talent.. and judging by kennys previous buys in the summer transfer market, we are in deepo trouble of he is left in charge of transfers again, they were absolutely shit… i say we all get behind luis suarez and try and get top players in order to keep him and our other big name players happy: eg reina, agger, gerrard, enrique etc.. the current squad is brutal…
