Why Gerrard is the right man for the England captaincy job:

|

There are a whole host of reasons why Steven Gerrard is the perfect captain for England tonight and for the European championships.

If he is fully fit he will be one of the first names on the team sheet, the other players all respect him and he’s been involved with the squad for years and will provide the younger players with valuable advice.

Gerrard always seems to get the best out of teammates and he drives others on and would fit the role perfectly. Players who will be at the Euro’s such as: Rooney, Downing are all behind Gerrard for the captaincy. He has the experience for it having captained Liverpool in Champions league finals, huge Premier league games and across Europe.

The only thing that Steven has to prove is his fitness as he has missed a large part of this season through injury. Having regained his fitness though I can’t see a better player for the role than Gerrard. If I had to choose someone else I’d be happy with Joe Hart as he is guaranteed that spot and would be around for many years to come unlike Gerrard, Lampard and Scott Parker.

I think we all remember that first England match after the shambles in South Africa where we found ourselves 0-1 down at home to Hungary. An inspirational Steven Gerrard fired home from 25 yards to pull us level and then put us in the lead minutes later with a fantastic bit of skill and tucked the ball past the oncoming keeper. He plays with a passion and a hunger to win and I think at this moment in time he is the only choice for the England captaincy.

This is by far the worst article ever.Gerrard was captain for all the games in South Africa he was a shocking leader ,facts dont lie.He is by no means the in the top three English players in the Premership, completly outplayed by old man Paul Scholes in last two games, shocking again last Sunday against an ordinary Cardiff side.As you pointed out he has been around the English set-up for years, what has he done or achieved. He has in that period of time been shifted around in different positions by different managers to get the best of him,all to no avail.Facts dont lie.As ferguson recently said England since 1966 have had only one world class player that was Gascoigne, the rest is unfounded hype.

Well if i’m honest i’d have Terry but that is not going to happen. Apart from Terry, Gerrard has to be the next in line. You say “what has he done or achieved?” what has any England footballer achieved out of the 25 in the squad with England. How you can pin England’s performances in South Africa on Gerrard is absolute nonsense, Gerrard was one of few who came away from the World Cup with credit.

Well we see how the new captain perform against Holland. Scot Parker is not a natural leader.

People who talk great about Alex Ferguson don’t really know about football. Look at the datas, He have not taken any other team to Premier title. All this while he is with MU.Just get him to QPR and ask him to get the title and see if he can achieve it. MU can take the title without him because they have the best players to do it.

Kingraj. I quote you: “People who talk great about Alex Ferguson don’t really know about football.” That statement is quite astonishing. He has won everything. I know, only with one club, but come on! Has any other manager ever done it? I think not.

Ferguson won the Scottish 1st division with St Mirren in 1977,won three scottish league titles,Scottish cup 4 times and Scottish league cup with Aberdeen. My god Kingraj you no nothing about football. The great was right no England has or is world class its all hype.Remember the so called golden generation they were rubbish, fools gold.Facts dont lie.
