Is this Blackburn star on his way out?

Perhaps the most fought after player this transfer window is Blackburn’s David Hoilett, or Junior as he better known. According to various sources, including a vast amount of journalists and newspapers, a total of no less than 5 Premier League clubs are shown to have interest in him, with some apparently at later stages of negotiations than others.

Blackburn are expected to cash in on the Canadian if the right offer comes in and have issued a price tag of £8 million on the youngster. The action taken is for 2 reasons, one is to potentially warn off low bids that may unsettle the player and the other is to make sure if they do sell they will get the right price. Blackburn were hoping he would sign a new deal but have now come to terms that the club may not match his high ambitions. With a number of potential buyers though, where is he likely to go?

The first option is Stoke City, who are willing to sell Jermaine Pennant in order to create funds and room for Hoilett to come in. However, with the stature of the other clubs involved Stoke may find themselves snubbed in favour of Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United. Tottenham and Liverpool are perhaps the most interested parties, with rumours stating that Liverpool have already made a bid but this is unconfirmed at the time of writing. Arsenal and Manchester United have also made contact and are expected to move into the enquiry stage.

Personally, I see the most likely move being to either Spurs or Liverpool. Liverpool need more of an attacking threat, especially with the Suarez ban. With Stewart Downing not performing to expectations but with few other options, Hoilett could be the young, talented player that the club is crying out for. Tottenham is a club the player would suit, although I do believe he would also fit into the Arsenal squad quite well.

The difference is Arsenal have a lot of options available to them on the wings and the transfer of Hoilett would shut out a young, talented player already at the club which is wrong and I can’t see Wenger taking this route. Redknapp would be keen to add Hoilett to his selection for his rotation policy, easing the pressure off key players Bale and Van Der Vaart aswell as covering for the injured Aaron Lennon.

Where Hoilett will be going is by far certain and I’m sure a few more clubs will be thrown into the mix, just to add to the confusion. It is likely though that he will move and Blackburn will keen to cash in this transfer window before the player’s contract expires in the summer. This news will not please Blackburn Rovers fans, last year there was talks of big name players coming in after the clubs takeover but at the moment it seems they are on the wrong end of a landslide. Blackburn fans must look at the positives though, the club has said they will spend during this window in order to strengthen their squad and fight off the threat of relagation.

If Hoilett moves on then there is an extra £8 million in the bank to spend on his replacement.

If Hoilett is sold for £8million then I think that will be our entire transfer kitty. The clubs owners have bled the club dry and are stripping the club of its assets and selling the top players. They are not investing time or money into the club and are running the club into the ground.
