Is Liverpool’s most valuable asset really on his way out of Anfield?

According to Emirates 24/7, Liverpool’s super striker Luis Suarez could be subject to bids from Real Madrid and Inter Milan. The belief is that another League would offer Suarez an escape from the awkward situation he finds himself facing in the Premier League. Like it or loathe it, Suarez now has a reputation and despite his talent he won’t be a popular player outside of Anfield.

Whether or not this is enough to force him out of England, remains to be seen. For now Suarez seems completely behind this Liverpool side. Whilst I doubt he was impressed with Liverpool’s showing against Bolton in the 3-1 loss, he still took to Twitter to pledge his support:

“We couldn’t win today but I trust a lot on my teammates, I can’t wait to play again!!!!!”

Exclamation point abuse aside, this is clearly a man who has been made to feel at home at Liverpool and is unlikely to be pressuring for a move away any time soon. Liverpool may not be getting the results, but Suarez seems satisfied enough for the time being.

Nobody knows quite how bad the reaction to Suarez’s return will be. Whilst opposition fans will surely let him know that they disapprove of his actions, Liverpool fans will stay steadfastly behind their man. Emirates 24/7 claims that there’s the fear amongst the Liverpool hierarchy that Suarez could end up as ‘damaged goods’. I don’t know how that would be possible – all the bad publicity in the world couldn’t strip Suarez of his talent.

To say that clubs will be bidding for Suarez this summer is stating the obvious, but to suggest that he might consider making a move because of the Evra saga seems off the mark. If anything the scandal has forged closer bonds between Suarez and Liverpool. It’s clear to everyone that Kenny Dalglish and his teammates are behind him and will offer him support when things get tough.

What’s more he’s in the privileged position of being one of the Reds best players (if not THE best). This will buy him a lot of patience with the fans, who are renowned for sticking behind their players. As such, It’s hard to see why Suarez would want to move this summer.

Whether or not he’d be a good fit at a club like Real Madrid or Inter Milan is irrelevant. All that matters is that he’s happy at Liverpool and is likely to stay that way for the foreseeable future.
