Could a shock return for this ex-Liverpool star be on the cards?

A year ago Liverpool lost one of the clubs most fame-worthy strikers. Fernando Torres to Chelsea. But it’s fair to say that although hearts may have been broken, that was eased with the £50million price tag. The once goal-happy striker, had dipped in form over the previous seasons and since being at Chelsea things seem to have gone from bad to worse. With only 2 goals in the league this season Torres seems to be slipping out of the plans of Chelsea manager AVB. But with only 541 minutes played out a possible 1350 has Torres really been given any time to shine?

As Liverpool’s ability to finish chances seems to have dried up I have heard calls for Kenny to go out an buy a real goal poacher in January. Someone who is there in the box, finishing chances. The good news is that today we hear rumours that Chelsea are going to be having a January sale. The offer? An out of form striker with £30million knocked off his buying price, reduced from £50million to £20million.

The question is would you take Torres back? Whilst the cost of £20million sounds steep for someone with only 2 goals in the league, it would represent a £30million pound profit. But then there are the wage demands, Torres is currently on £150grand a week, would you want him coming to Liverpool if that were his wage cost, or would he have to take a dramatic wage cut?

Financial arguments aside we come to the real question. Could Torres rediscover his form at Anfield? After all Suarez was bought with a striking partnership with Torres in mind. But would Dalglish be the man to stir up that passion Torres had in the first few seasons. If you remember before he left us on deadline day, Torres had started scoring again, albeit it a shadow of his former days, but he was scoring none the less under Dalglish.

Another question is whether the dressing room would want him back, would the players want to play with Nando again? With Gerrard injured (and the worrying silence over an expected return date) who else would give Torres the service he needs as a poaching goal scorer, I think Suarez could do the job?

A closing thought…were ‘El Nino’ to return what would happen to our current number 9? The form of Andy Carroll is another question for another article.

MAKE HIM COME BACK TO LIVERPOOL PLS I WILL BE HAPPY TO HAVE HIM BACK TO LIVERPOOL KINGDOM

  • Eddie says:

Torres left us for money yet he knew we had a new manager new owners and we had got suarez to play along side him.
He has made his rouble bed let him lie in it.

    • DjSav says:

Tottaly diagree with u Eddie, Torres left Liverpool as he was given false promises by your manager and board. He came to Chelsea not because of the money, as Barcelona showed interest in him as well Ac Milan who were offering the same wages. So get your facts right, he was right to leave Liverpool, he may not have set the world a light yeat at Chelsea but AVB knows he will along with all Chelsea fans, It will be Liverpol who and u fans who will regret letting him go.
      Big up Chelsea!!!

Lol!!chelsit fan defending torres!! U should teach ur terrys n luizs to defend the goalpost!! That mite help!!!!

  • Zahid says:

After his comments im 100% sure he won’t be returning. Whether them comments are old or not he made them. Saying that him and Suarez could have been superb together had he stayed and probably still would be if he came back but i don’t think it can happen. Not in January anyway, besides we sold him for 50 mill how much do you think Chavski would want to sell him for?

  • David says:

I think that although Torres broke the heart of many Liverpool fans, still he can really do well for us with the aid of both Suarez and Gerrard. Torres is having a nasty time at Chelsea due to the fact that he is not a one man player. At Liverpool all the midfield worked hard for him so that he could score in fact he broke a record of fifty goals in the first two years at Liverpool. So I think he can shine back if the players were to accept him. We should take the opportunity if it came right.

  • Steve says:

I’d take him on loan til the end of the season and then only sign him if he cost £15m maximum (do the maths) and on a massive pay cut. He’d be boss on the right wing, hehe!

  • tinleg says:

Do a loan swap with Carroll.

  • Mark caleb says:

Wit our problem nw,i’ll tk him on loan,if he clicks,i’ll buy him 4 at least 15-18mil.it a fear price n mk him tk a massive pay cut.

  • Lfc4lifer says:

I’d have him back all day long…
But I just remembered we won’t be in europe anytime soon… So the likelihood of any top current player wanting to join us are slim!

Sack Kenny first off.. Bring Back Rafa and Th3n we don’t have to suffer the likes of silva, mata and alike opting for other teams….
With backing he would bring back the glory days, untill then sit back and watch us finish 6th possibly 5th yr in yr out with the King!

    • LFC Fan says:

Are you high on nicotine? First you expertly stated King Kenny to be sacked first, In what terms are you expertly qualified to say that?
Don’t tell me that you are a typical glory hunter?

In terms of defence we are still the best joint team. We are just in a bad luck spell at scoring goals at the moment.

We all know Rafa has done LFC a good job before, thats done and dusted, but now we’re a different team under King Kenny, I for one knows that LFC will come good under the King.

      In King Kenny I trust

  • m kop says:

For 20 mil. and his old salary he would be welcome.

@Akash @ Super Star FC Ryan Babel? For real? I think that ship has sunk my friend

  • Mike Roberts says:

Old article of news this….. Even mentions Gerrard out injured still? FFS peeps get a grip!!!! Torres and AVB have stated 2 weeks ago that the striker is going Nowhere. There is no evidence what so ever that Torres wants to come back, and that Chavski would sell back to us.
I would have him back …… But it’s not going to happen so let’s move on…..

  • Ashfah Hussain says:

Give him a 2-way ticket as we did for Ian Rush. Why look for unproven Colombian stiker and another Lucas from Brazil.

  • Cashique says:

    Few facts

If we get torres back for 20m, profits aside, it would make carroll a 5m purchase. Hopefully with the price tag off his back he will perform.

Its very obvious torres didn’t want to leave at the end but had already made up his mind/prior promises before KD took over. Things were bleak for LFC and he had given us his very best.

Deep down, his lack of form might be down to his regret at leaving LFC. If indeed he wants to come back and engineers such a move (like when he left us), i think 20m is a fantastic price to pay for a proven hero of the kop and rub some salt in the faces of CFC.

  • Joy says:

I would thank the heavens if he returns to Anfield, I was one of the angry fans who hated him when he left but all will be forgiven if he returns back, he will definitely shine once again under KK.Bring him back please we are anyway looking for a striker and he is an out n out striker.

  • benon says:

let the man come back for his 2rd chance in the likes of fowler, rush bellamy etc

  • Adelugba badejo says:

thank God Steven G is back. 20million is not much 4 a striker like torres and issue of his wage, his wage should be cut to 100 per week. The issue of carrol i don’t see anything bad in having 3 or 4 strikers sooner or latter suarez will start his 8 match ban and in jan/feb.we will playing the like of viz:man u,man city both home and away totham etc and we need a striker that is already in the system (i mean disturb opponent defenders) not like hunltelar, lucas or colombia star.

  • Mark says:

The lad wants to come back… lets forgive him coz i think the kop will spark him once again and Gerrard Suarez Torres will be amazing Wowwwww!
