Could a shock move for Tottenham’s midfield dynamo reignite Liverpool’s campaign?

After a big spending summer Liverpool may well eschew another financial splurge this January in favour of allowing the players they do have to gel. But that won’t stop Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish from considering his options and wondering whether to make certain tweaks and changes to his side. One pressing issue which is deserving of his consideration is whether to bring in somebody to replace Lucas Leivas after his season-ending injury.

Numerous rumours have abounded, one of the most bizarre being a purported Tottenham raid for one of their most exciting midfield talents. On the rumours section of Liverpool’s website it is claimed that Kenny is set to test Harry Redknapp’s resolve and make a bid for Brazilian midfielder Sandro.

The arrival of Scott Parker and injury problems have seen his chances at White Hart Lane diminish and he is said to be unhappy with his lack of playing time. Given the quality in Tottenham’s midfield it is perhaps unsurprising that he’s finding it hard to nail down a regular role in the side. Yet anybody who watched Tottenham endeavour to a 1-0 victory over Sunderland on the weekend will have been impressed by his performance.

He showed he could start attacks as well as perform tidily at the back and boss the midfield. He looks like the quintessential all-round footballer – somebody with the versatility to play as a defensive anchor or further up the pitch. It’s difficult to perform so well when you’re not playing regularly, but somehow he’s pulling it off.

Whilst a move away from White Hart Lane does seem unlikely, his agent has been keen to stir up the possibility of him leaving. Luiz Paulo Chignall, speaking about the chances of him joining a top Italian club said:

“A move to Italy? Sandro is interested in playing in the major leagues, and Serie A is one of them. In football you can never rule anything out, though, with it possible that negotiations will see all parties reach an agreement.”

With that in mind you wonder what would happen if Liverpool declared their interest and made it clear to Sandro that they could provide him with regular first team football.

There could well be an awkward situation when Lucas returns from injury, but that eventuality is a long way off and the increased competition is sure to be good for the team. All in all, this is a move that would have my full support and I hope that Kenny tests the waters this January.

Yeah right. He would really want to move to Liverpool who will struggle to get a Europa place leaving spurs who are challenging for the title and will be in the champions league. Plus Liverpool is a crime ridden sh!tehole. Apparently it was so cold the other day up in Liverpool a scouser was seen with his hands in his own pockets. Amazing.

  • Damo says:

Because Liverpool in so many degrees north of London and so much colder. Soft cockney pussy!
