Two transfers that I hope Arsenal complete in the near future:

It’s common parlance when it comes to discussing Arsenal’s dealings in the transfer market to suggest that they desperately need a central defender. Yet that really isn’t the case anymore. Thomas Vermaelen, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny are three excellent defenders and I’m more than happy to see any combination of those three players take up the two centre-back slots on the squad sheet.

Whilst many choose to hang on to the past and hark on about Arsenal’s old problems rather than consider their new ones, it strikes me that the Gunners have issues in other areas of the pitch.

Whilst Robin Van Persie has managed to find a way of scoring enough goals to lift the whole team, it’s clear that he needs a strike-partner who can remove some of the goal-scoring burden from his shoulders. We’re not talking Marouane Chamakh here. We’re not talking Nicklas Bendtner. We need genuine world-class.

I for one rate Park Chu-Young, but at the moment he looks like a third choice striker and lacks genuine experience at the top level of the game. The truth is, ever since Chamakh stopped scoring Arsenal have been in need of a new striker and Chu-Young simply wasn’t the answer.

Last summer the main striker linked with a move to the club was Karim Benzema, but now that he’s settled at Real Madrid, it would be nigh-on impossible to bring him to Arsenal. Instead, the name I’m most interested in is that of AC Milan’s Alexandre Pato.

He was in a rich vein of form before picking up an injury this season and the Brazilian’s dribbling ability and eye for a goal could be a real asset for the club. It may seem that I’m just picking a world-class striker’s name out of a hat, but I believe AC Milan could be tempted to sell if Arsenal came up with the right money.

AC Milan were thought to be in the market for a midfielder last season, but didn’t have the funds to complete a move. Could the club be willing to sell a striker who isn’t really a guaranteed starter at the club to facilitate a revamping of their midfield? Stranger things have happened.

Ideally such a move would be completed January so Arsenal have additional firepower carrying them into the second half of the season.

Then I’d like to see Arsene go forLille’sBelgiumstar Eden Hazard to replace the ailing and failing Andrey Arshavin on the wings. Two huge, expensive transfers no doubt, but wouldn’t they put Arsenal back on the map in a big way?

I know that Hazard has been linked with Arsenal for a few seaons, but from what I’ve read recently it seems he would prefer joining Inter Milan rather an Arsenal, so I somehow think that this deal would be dead before being resurrected. However miracles do happen!!!

  • adamski says:

the hazard deal couldnt be more dead in the water so unfortunately we have to move past this transfer target. it always hurts being an arsenal fan beong linked to players for such a long time only to watch tge majority of them

Good news….. I hope this is true. For me HAZARD AND PATO are welcome to Emirate stadium.

  • Melisew says:

I agree with Pato, but not Hazard. He want to play for Real mad.even he comes 2 Ars,will hurt us when he becomes world class like Nasri.I would rather prefer Mario.G

  • Nkusuny says:

Hazard will come if arsenal can pay the asking price. Arsenal should buy Gotze i think we need such player in our midfield ! Llorente and Gomes is also a good choice of strikers if we can’t get pato.

  • addy says:

Neither’s likely at all. I’d settle for grosskreutz and podolski. Judging by the rumour mill, the most likely transfer looks to be farfan for arshavin

No and no. Apart from Pato`s dodgy hamstring, he is said to be a party animal. The same charge – perhaps unjustly – may be levelled at Hazard. We need a couple of playboys, like an outbreak of foot and mouth. Rumour has it that Hazard is off to Real anyway. I am not fussed about the midfield. Arteta(?}is a class act. He retains posession and has the vision to hit long balls- if you`ll excuse the expression – like a latter day Johnny Haynes. I would happie-wh atev er ly accept Goetz however, as you can`t have too much of a good thing. A,C. Milan claimed that three signings from one Country was ideal. It certainly brought them great success. So, with Goetz – whatever – the obvious choice for RvP`s partner or fillin is Padoiski {I really must learn to spell.} Fallback? Doimbia, who seems to want to come. My third choice is Llorente. Then play AA in the hole – He`s a great player, wasted on the wing – and watch us go.
