Arsenal  sealed a nervy 2-1 win over Greek side Olympiakos last night, but it was the contribution of 18-year-old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain that would have done much to put a smile back on the Gunners’ supporters.

The former Southampton winger took his goal expertly to open the scoring for Arsenal last night as he cut in from the right side and stroked the ball into the net with his left foot.

While Chamberlain’s game is clearly a work in progress, there are genuine signs that Arsenal could have another star on their hands.

Pat Rice  said:

From Arsenal supporters’ point of view, they are going to be seeing a lot of this boy.’

Taking about the competition for places with Walcott, Rice added:

I know that Theo is a very strong-willed guy as well and he won’t give in easy.’

‘Alex can go inside, he can go outside, he’s got that injection of pace and I think what he needs now is to be consistent in his play.’

Arsene Wenger , watching from the stands last night as he completed his two-match touchline ban, now has an interesting decision to make for Sunday’s derby with Spurs.

Does he go with the more experienced Theo Walcott? Or does he go with the unpredictability of Oxlade-Chamberlain on Arsenal’s right flank?

In as much as alex as been able 2 b on d score sheet in His 2 major start 4 arsenal, I stil tip theo 2 start ahead of Him in d northlondon derby 2day.

  • marcus says:

this is a no brainer what arsene needs to do is play the both theo on right and chamberlain on the left pack arshavin off to russia on the first available flight job done 🙂

  • Judith Le'Strange says:

Judging by AOC’s last two performances I think he should be given a start against Spurs, that way Walcott can have a bit longer to recover. But then again I’m not the Arsenal manager because if I was I would have had a clear out of our dead wood that we have been carrying for far too long.

  • Oxlade chaberlain is d right man 2 start against spurs bkoz he can create space in d midfield and also gud in both left and right unlike walcot who alwayz go on directn,no accurate dribble.

  • Dom says:

I’d start both. What has Arshavin done to get a start? Theo and AOC can swap sides all game.

  • Paul says:

I think walcot is fit for the position than chamber this is because he had been with the team for long,he understands the patern better
