Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is furious that a private meeting that he had at his London office was secretly taped  despite a confidentiality agreement not to do so. Kenwright says that he is now considering legal action for breach of confidentiality.

So, what is this all about? People outside of Merseyside may, until this transfer window, have considered Everton to be a well run club, with a top class  manager who always gets the most out of players in his squad. The recent weeks have seen a growing body a fan discontent at a) no transfer activity and b) a refusal by the club to explain what the future holds for Everton. Supporters have become increasingly restless for answers and a group called The Blue Union was formed (an amalgamation of 3 independent groups of fans) with the express intention of finding answers.

Much media activity did take place locally and nationally and culminated in  the meeting above.  Kenwright then went on Sky sports and clearly outlined that Everton have no money to spend, the bank will not raise the overdraft limit, any spare money from e.g. Yakubu’s loan to Leicester or the sale of Pienaar to Spurs had to go to the bank.

Everton cannot trade for players without moving the likes of the out of favour Yobo and Yakubu out of the club. They may then have some leeway with the bank but David Moyes, the manager, is fully aware of the situation.

The Blue Union have done a disservice to the vast majority of Everton fans. They are no more than three self-interest groups with egos pushing a clear agenda to remove Bill Kenwright from the club. One group, KEIOC (keep Everton in our city) carries a huge grudge against the chairman over the proposed move to Kirkby, which ultimately failed. The problem now is that having got a dialogue going with the club these people were deceitful in the way they obtained the information  and the spin they put on it and this is likely to mean the club will think long and hard about engaging with these sort of individuals again. Many people feel duped by what has gone on.

It will be a nervous few days at Everton as the countdown to 31st August continues. Prize assets such as Jagielka and Baines are attracting the attention of Arsenal, now cash rich from the Fabregas sale. Beckford and Anichebe are strongly linked with  Leicester and who knows who else will be looking to take advantage of the weak financial position. Bill Kenwright stood firm against the clamour from the bank to sell Arteta last season, fans will hope he is able to do so again. He deserves credit not abuse for his efforts to keep the club afloat.

will these idiots be happy when a bunch of chicken farmers take over at the club like them blackburn, they have no love of the club and are out to make money and will ruin the club, kenwrights has said countless times he will sell but everton needs a billionaire not a millionaire, at present we have dedicated players who are happy at the club and do not want to move
