In the January transfer window, Liverpool football club was involved in four player transfers, two came in and two went out, the players that went out being Ryan Babel and Fernando Torres. Whilst those that came in were Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll. That is a quite interesting considering that all transfers involved forwards.

All four transfers were big money deals, with three of them being in excess of 20 million quid. Of those three deals, one of them was a British record. The player being Andy Carroll, a young player with a lot of promise and potential. Who was scoring a lot of goals and was being given many name tags like, “the next Shearer” or “the next Drogba” (I personally don’t like these name tags, I prefer the simple tag “Wonderkid”). Andy Carroll, a tall lad who is very strong, a giant as some may say, who many have described as the very best in the air, with a thunderous left foot and he possesses speed that could fool many.

When Carroll was signed, a lot was expected of him, many people wanted to see many goals. The media started going on and on about Andy Carroll and how he is a new Shearer that is going to do big things for Liverpool FC. Many talking about how Dr King Kenny is the manager that made Shearer the player he became. And how Dr Dalglish was going repeat that with Andy Carroll.

Carroll came injured and did not play a game until March, and when he did start playing the expectations on him were not huge because he was coming from injury and because his strike partners were finding the net. The midfielders were scoring too, there was a time when Meireles was on song and later on Maxi hit a purple patch, hence the British record transfer was not under much pressure to score. He did score two goals though, one of them being a belter that had every Liverpool fan dancing and a beautiful header past the rated Citeh and England Goalie, Hart. Those goals allayed any fears we had in him and made us imagine of the great times ahead. Though at the time there was a lot of talk of how wingers that swing in crosses would bring the best out of the 35 million man.

During the summer transfer window we bought Henderson for 16 million, Downing for 20 million quid and Adam for about 8 million. All these are players that are well known for assists and had quite a sizeable number of assists last season. Downing being the player known to “whip it in” from either wing, Henderson also had many assists last term and Adam who can provide great assists from set pieces.

Comolli himself said Adam can be a left sided player and SAF said his corners alone are worth 10 million. Adam has already provided one assist so far and we know that more are coming. Dr King Kenny and Comolli also brought in Enrique whose offensive play is more recognizable than his defensive play.

Should build the team around Suarez. We played better the other day without Carrol. Suarez needs a foil to play with such as Forlan for Uraguay with fast inter play, Kuyt or Maxi Rod?

  • Ekonate says:

Stupid article, first Lucas was the scapegoat until he won – quite rightly – player of the year, then Henderson was getting hammered for no reason at the start of this season but a great performance and goal yesterday got the critics off his back, So now its back to Carroll – give the kid a chance! Hardly started his Liverpool career and idiots who no nothing about football, liverool, and what kenny is trying to do. Sorry, but f**k off – u know nothing!!!

    • RONNY KHOR says:

yes…..those moron who doesn’t know about LFC , please stay out from our team!!! Go support the devils , since they had score eight goals..pass the goons.

  • Yudeesteera says:

Yes we’re wrong… Carroll is useless
Sell him back… buy cheaper striker who can hold the ball for 10 seconds…

  • Jasbir says:

Last session on arrival of Surez with pass and move stretgy liverpool performed nicely. Introduction of Carrol in last two games change all this progress. Actually, Every player was directed to supply to carrol but carrol proved their null and void. Every one was working hard to make move and on reaching goal mouth starts tracing carrol to his the ball into goal. Everyone lost their own creativity. Everyone was not aiming goal but was aiming Carrol to deliver. result was losses to Villa and totahem. This mistake repeated again and again by Dilgish during pre session the result everyone knows. Even the result of sunderland was distressing. It Surez Kuyt combination would have tried instead of Carrol I am sure we would have trunched sunderland by 3.0 easily. Our is a touch pass and move type of beautiful game on the ground. in this game we have masterly. in air we are loosing control and masterly and stand parellel to our opponent and sometime weaker. Carrol is definativly a bad investment to prove it correct we must not spoile our beautiful natural game. Carrol is a young player give him training and also train him to adjust hisself in this type of game. Header would be his extra potential and after trainig with his power and powerful left foot we will become a diterent. Until them let him sit on the bench untill he did not adjust himself in accordance with the team set up. A team depending on one two or three player never wins games until they are not playing as a well knitted team.

Andy strong in the air? Are you sure? He cann’t even scored goal in the air! Good left footer? WHich Area he good at? Left foot scored goal, passing or tackling? Nop, none of them i think. Well, still early to pick on him we all know that. But I only see him as a giant to treaten Opponent’s defence (make defender tired)but other to score goal.

  • rok-der says:

give the kid some time, people are saying his hopeless when he’s only 22. as kenny saaid, we bought him for the long run, not for 10 games. i dont expect liverpool to keep starting him for now, since they thrashed bolton without him. but in the future, suarez and carroll will be a menace, and will become the best forward line in the epl.

    • RONNY KHOR says:

Yes..you’re absolutely right! He should be given a season to prove on.
How come those moron ,clueless buddy had no clue bout’Liverpool Football Club.Aren’t they watching rubby or soccer..

  • nottheproblem says:

The biggest problem with Carrol isn’t that he is useless. Its the way he CHOOSES to play. I don’t know if Kenny has told him to play differently yet, but Carrols style is to back into a centerback and call for the ball from wide areas. No wonder we start playing long to him! It probably isn’t even his fault. He’s probably been coached for years to play like a big English Center forward. Hopefully he can learn to control the ball on the ground and move around a bit more.

I really hope he has more in his locker than supposed aerial prowess. You don’t even need height to score with your head, just look at Tim Cahill.

  • RedNProud says:

Liverpool fans are acknowledged to be among the most knowledgable supporters in the world and the constant rehashing of the headlines of the pro ManUre, anti LFC, hacks by so called Liverpool supporters is embarrassing.

These so called supporters need to grow up, learn about football, the history and traditions of our beloved LFC and what it means to be a TRUE Liverpool supporter, then they SHUT THE F*** *P.

    • Red Is Our Blood says:

Yes!!!! for those who think like kinder-garden & school children.Better go support the Manure devils.

      • Miles says:

Yeah, for those who think like kinder-garden & school children… better go back to kindergarten and learn spelling and grammar.

  • m kop says:

I wouldn’t put pressure on him.
Dzeko didn’t have the best start at City but now he is scoring.
In many ways I consider Carroll to be better than Dzeko, almost in every way except when it comes to his experience.

Torres was worth 50 mil. and I still dont think Chelsea wasted their money, and Torres is older so he has less time to prove his worth.

We shouldn’t be expecting too much, Suarez is on form now and Carroll’s goals will come.

    • Carroll9 says:

Thank you…People, give it some time. The modern internet fan has no patience or sense of perspective. One guy has us buying VAN PERSIE…get a life! People were laughing at Dzeko, but look at him now. As long as we’re getting results then it is fine. I agree with you people need to stop moaning and get behind the team.

  • kinsmay says:

we just have to be careful in our comments, though Carroll is not finding it rossy now in Liverpool`s team but i still believe he has something to offer, play kuyt or Maxi along side super Suarez, let us play Carroll from the bench if we have secured a win from any match, because he is too slow for the team,Suarez is a 1-2 playing type of player so he needs a very fast partner,Gerrard would have been the best option if he is fit and play Mereiles behind them,we need one more winger and a natural all round striker.King K Dalgish is the best,Liverpool for life

  • ShardeYNWALFC4EVER says:

Guys, get behind the team (that’s from KK to all those in the squad ). For god sake get a bloody ball & go have a kick about in the park. Don’t embarrass us (COLLECTIVELY), leave it to Kenny, he is the manager.
GET BEHIND THE TEAM, ENJOY OUR WIN & LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT MATCH.
SHOW & BE DIGNIFIED IN YOUR COMMENTS ( of course you will always get the odd manure prick commenting as a Liverpool fan ).
A LONG HARD & TOUGH SEASON LIES AHEAD.
SUPPORT THE TEAM – SUPPORT THE TEAM.
REMEMBER WHEN WE ALL WALK AS ONE WE NEVER WALK ALONE.

This article and most of the comments pretty much sum up everything that is shit about the internet.

  • John A says:

Seriously.. This arcticle appears to have been written by a 7 year old, with no sense of the game, or what it is to be a real fan. What are you thinking attempting to claim that we are building a team around Andy Carroll? That couldnt be further from the truth, he’s barely played since we bought him. And why oh why, after watching 2 excellent all round team performances against the gunners and Bolton do you feel the need to make this stupid kind of overly-crytical, mis-informed nonsense?
