Why this Arsenal man really IS a good fit for Newcastle:

The general consensus amongst Newcastle fans, I believe, is that Nicklas Bendtner just doesn’t have the quality, nor the ability to add something to their attack. On the other hand, if you asked Bendtner himself, if he has the quality, I’m sure he’d respond by telling you how he should be a first-teamer for the likes of Barcelona or some such and he’d talk your ear off about how he hasn’t showcased his best stuff over his years at Arsenal. So where does the truth lie? Is he good enough to play for a club with aspirations as grand as Newcastle?

Firstly, we should acknowledge that anybody who Alan Pardew brings in will pale in comparison to the man that he allowed to leave last January. Newcastle’s £35m man Andy Carroll left a gap in the squad that will be nigh on impossible to fill. Certainly Bendtner’s arrival at the club would do little to placate those who disagreed with Carroll’s sale.

On the other hand, I can’t help but feel that Bendtner is a little underrated. He’s strong in the air, has an impressive goal-scoring record and gets those goals from both inside and outside of the penalty area. He’s a more versatile striker than most care to admit and he certainly hasn’t let his height hold him back or pigeon-hole him into a one-dimensional role.

I confess that he lacks a certain degree of mobility. He’s not a ‘pacey’ striker and won’t leave opposition defenders for dead, but the positions he takes up often makes up for this deficiency. What’s more with the right coaching and regular game time, I can see Bendtner’s mobility increasing and with the right motivation he could be a real asset for Newcastle, should Pardew be willing to take a gamble.

Sources quote his worth at around £8-10m. That’s costly but I’d say he’s worth bringing in, especially if a deal for Daniel Sturridge can’t be arranged.

Whilst he has received ‘chances’ at Arsenal, he hasn’t really had a run of games in the squad. The majority of his performances come have come as a substitute and he doesn’t tend to start too many games in a row. It would be fascinating to see how his performances adapt when he’s playing on a regular basis. At Arsenal he’s shown that he’s a fairly decent performer who has the potential to be something more.

At Newcastle, he could well reach the final stage of his development and establish himself as a quality, all-round player.

Lost interest with this article after reading this, his ratio for last 2 season is a goal every 4 games, which is he has played 40 games scored 8 goals in EPL.

    Overated and rubbish!

If your think Ashley and Lliambas (Saruman and Wormtounge)have any grander aspirations than survival at lowest cost possible with close to no outlay on incoming players, then you are in for a unpleasant surprise.
Apparantly we have used most of the 35 mill carrol money already on agent fees and such!
Step forward Agents of the year, getting agent fees like that.
    LIARS!

everybody talks about Carroll as if he is world class
check his and bentners stats you would be suprised
    niether are that great:)

  • Who writes this crap!

Ask any Arsenal fan, and they will tell you he isn’t good enough, so he isn’t good enough for Newcastle, everton, Wolves, Norwich etc….

  • Gooner says:

Actually there are a fair few Gooners who think Bendtner is being misused by Wenger as when he does get time on the pitch it is normally on the wing.

He had a spell up front last season and did very well before RVP came back and he got shunted to the bench or the wing.

If you look closer at his stats in the league last season you will see he scores or assists every 127 minutes. Carroll was better last season but not by much (every 109 minutes)and lets face it Carroll didn’t spend much time on the wing.

  • random man- not Bendtner says:

I… I mean Bendtner is an amazing player and Newcastle would be lucky to have me- him… lucky to have HIM. He is world class and so much better than Andy Carroll and worth so much more and the only reason you’d get Him so cheap is because of.. of, uh… …Because Arsenal are a selling club and …yeah

  • Daniel says:

im a danish newcastle fan, and I would like to comment, that yeah bendtner lacks a lot of things, but to be honest, despite the fact that i in general dislikes bendtner(attitude arsenal player etc), he has some big qualities, and as the blogger says, he has yet to get a run of games, i mean a really seriosly run, first when he has got that, we can see whether he has the qualities to become our newest top gun.. take a look at this link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1xf_pvBjr0… its between Denmark-Portugal and then say that their isnt something in that kid, whether hes right for us, and/or fat ash i willing to pay up is a whole other matter

  • pete says:

He would be great for us. He would want to prove himself. And prove all his haters wrong.
Anyone, please let us know which strikers would be better (PL experience + goals behind them) and are realistic to bring to Newcastle for less then 10 mill?

  • Tony says:

    Not going to happen.
Wages too high, won’t take a pay cut.
Stop going on about him now please.
