Is this Arsenal man’s £54m price-tag REALLY justified?

|

How much is Cesc Fabregas worth to Arsenal?Arsenal seemed to have slapped Barcelona in the face by offering captain Cesc Fabregas to Real Madrid for £54 million!

It almost seems unthinkable, but it certainly looks that way as Arsenal have issued a ‘you want him… come get him’ statement to Real Madrid (yes Barcelona’s arch enemy) and in doing so, they have stated that bidding will start at an astonishing £54 million.

Now many questions will be asked about Arsenal’s figure, and people are going to look at other players such as Torres, Carroll and everybody else. However, in my opinion it is nothing to do with these other players (mentioned above) how much Fabregas is worth, the only people who are in a position to state the valuation of Fabregas is of course Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has obviously been keeping an eye on situations between Barcelona and Real Madrid, and just recently, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has identified Cesc Fabregas as his number one priority this summer, in order to put Real back above the Catalan giants.

Is this a shrewd move by Arsenal? Definitely.

Arsenal are aware that Barcelona have eyes on Fabregas, and are of course willing to spend cash to acquire the 24-year-old Spaniard. By offering Fabregas’ services to other clubs means that Barcelona will ultimately have to reach deeper into their wallets to acquire their man, or fear losing out on him this summer.

So this leaves the obvious question…Is Cesc Fabregas’ £54 million asking price justified?

In my opinion, yes he is, and this is why:

Cesc Fabregas is easily worth around £40 million minimum – this is the figure I would look at if we were to sell him tomorrow to any club. However we aren’t dealing with ‘any club’, we are dealing with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Let’s look at it in the same way that Fernando Torres went from Liverpool to Chelsea. In my opinion, £25 million would have brought the player. However, because it was Chelsea, Liverpool laughed all the way to the bank and sold him for double that figure.

Newcastle then robbed Liverpool, who were desperate to replace Torres, by selling an injured Andy Carroll to the Merseyside for an excess of £35 million! A player that, lets be honest, is not worth that sum when fully fit, let alone injured.

Cesc Fabregas is one of the best midfielders in the world, period. His price tag is certainly justified by the Gunners, as he is their creative spark and of course their captain.

Put it this way, If Newcastle got £35 million for Carroll and Chelsea got Torres for £50 million, then surely Fabregas’ valuation is somewhere in-between, if not slightly more, and Arsenal should look to get as much as they can for the Spaniard…if of course he does decide to quit the Emirates outfit this summer.

The whole article above is based on the premise that Fabregas would be prepared to accept a transfer to Real. Assuming that he would not entertain it and Arsenal were not prepared to accept an inferior offer from Barca to that of Real, we are then back to a stalemate with the advantage clearly with Fabregas and Barca.Do we persevere with an unhappy player or allow Barca to effectively determine Fabregas’s fee at what they see fit to offer rather than his true market value. A dangerous game methinks.

Good deal from experience fool so called arsene wenger he knows how to tag huge amount 4 his players but had never bought a player worth 17€million since he was born ………. Never the less CESC is a world class midfielder and i will be glad if he plays 4 Real madrid next season …… GOONERS ALWAYS DE BEST

9 goals and 17 assists in 35 appearances. 54 million? why not?

    • riq says:

Then why is it that Guisseppe Rossi of Villarreal with 18 goals and 5 assists in 35 games in the league and 32 goals and 9 assists in all competitions in 2010-11 season worth only 35m?

If Torres is worth 50, then Cesc, at 24 years old one of the best midfielders in the world, is worth far more. 54 million is cut-rate for that. And why should anyone care that Barca can’t afford him? If they hadn’t been so financially irresponsible, they’d not be in such an admittedly bad bargaining position. Not that it matters; if Cesc can’t go to Barca (he can’t, they’re skint), then he stays at Arsenal.

English football is completely over rated. Neither Torres nor Carroll is worth their price. This does not justify Fabregas being sold for 54m. He does not even make it into the starting XI for Spain. I am not saying he is a bad player. He is a very good player, but Spain has got quality that makes even him fight for the starting spot. We are talking about teams like Barcelona and Madrid. Are you sure he will get to start in say at least 80% of the games. I really doubt it. He will be in the bench just like Mascherano for a very long time before he is used on a more regular basis. Guesseppe Rossi scored 38 goals in all competitions last season and provided many assists. He is probably the best forward in La Liga after Messi and Ronaldo. He is valuated at 35m. He is probably miles ahead of Torres or Carrol. So according to the way players are rated in the EPL, he should be sold for 80m. I would say Fabregas is worth around 30-35m. Barca have amazing talent such as Sergi Roberto, Thiago Alacantara and Jonathan Dos Santos and spending 50m on a bench player seems to be meaningless.

fabregas worth 70mil pound, period! he’s 24, he got 10 more years in him and he will only got better. in 1 or 2 years when xavi will declined naturally, fabregas will take over as the best midfielder in the world.

the shirts that Cesc sells, the money the club gets thru advertising using his face, the magic that he brings to our game.
he surely is worth more than 54mil to us becoz 54mil cannot replace what Cesc brings to the club.of course barca can afford him, they just dont want to pay becoz he can from them and he wants to go back.what they dont seem to get is that he is not on the transfer list.
they can give us 35mill plus a couple of their fringe players like they did with the flop,Ibrahimovic.they even offered E’to + Hleb + 45mil.E’to was a goal machine at that time, but they cant do it for Cesc,i doubt they really need him.
Where is he gonna play.Barca are winning things already as they are,i would not change their team if i managed it.

i can say yes, cesc is worth 54million, hes worth a hell of alot more than that in my oppinion, as an arsenal supporter and cesc fan, i consider THIS MAN to be priceless to arsenal, i only pray that no one is willing to pay this ammount for him, then he stays at the club that needs, wants and loves him.
