Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a shock move for Chelsea’s Brazilian defender David Luiz, who only joined the Blues in January for just over £21m, but it’s been rumoured that Barca president Sandro Rosell has met with the player’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci about a possible move to the Camp Nou.
Furthermore, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Bertolucci was keen to hear of what the Champions League winners were offering for the 24-year-old, but we all know how crafty the press can be.
Barca are in the market for a central defender, but have said that they are sticking to a strict £40m transfer budget, so as they are also tracking the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas, you wonder how they plan to fund a big money move for Luiz as I doubt the Stamford Bridge club would let him go, unless they received a ridiculously extortionate fee for the man they have already invested big money in.
But Luiz’s name has caught the attention of many around Europe since he arrived in west London, so it’s no surprise that his name will be linked with big clubs, but I highly doubt we’ll be selling him and I reckon the Catalan club will sign Thiago Silva from AC Milan instead, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic going the other way as part of the deal, which would make a lot more sense and Barca will have to go down the part-exchange route this summer considering their budget.
There you go, that’s the daftest Chelsea transfer rumour I’ve heard today, but no doubt we’ll hear worse over the course of the summer.

LeRoy your a pratt… Too right Moneybags, the refs and Barca share the same bed…. Barca are only where they are because they own most of the tv rights and as such have the spending power to the detriment of the La Liga. The Spanish League should really be called La Barca Liga… apart from Real NO OTHER SPANISH TEAM HAS ANY HOPE OF WINNING THE SPANISH TITLE!
