Having a sheikh in the back supporting the club, it means big business. Málaga have now added yet another player to their ranks, Valencia star Joaquín. He was presented before 15000 people at the stadium La Rosaleda. This is seen as a important signing for Manuel Pellegrini, headcoach. This is what Joaquín had to say about it:

“It’s not a dream but reality and we’ve seen that at each presentation for new players. I want to thank the board for the oppurtunity and i hope to give back to them, with this project full of hope, with this great team.”

“Since i was aware of Málagas interest i didn’t hesitate. It´s great to come to a project like this. I’m like a kid who get’s a toy for the first time. It’s a beautiful and exciting oppurtunity and such an important project”

Joaquín, back in the days in a Betis-shirt was one of my favourite players, without doubt. His career has faltered a bit in Valencia, where he sometimes didn’t even play, but mostly because of a spat with Emery, Valencia coach. Joaquín might not have the speed needed anymore to run up and down a flank, but he’s still a intelligent player. Coming to Málaga must be like a dream to him.

“What we know we must do is to make the fans enjoy, because they have suffered so much. Now they must enjoy. We must not forget that the best player Málaga have are you, the fans”

With Málaga even close to go down a division last season, any new place in the table would be an improvement. Even though the club´s dream is to make it to the Champions Leauge, i still can not see that happening within next season. Bit by bit though, they have potential and money of course.
