Media Watch: Carlos Tevez off to Inter Milan

|

There has been a power shift from London to Manchester. With City looking more and more powerful. Will Carlos Tevez prosper as a result?Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez’s future has been uncertain for quite some time now. The ambiguity surrounding Tevez’s future must come as a delight for the newspapers and online publications that make their money from cooking up plausible transfer rumours. Carlos Tevez is arguably City’s most important player and without a doubt their main goal threat and as a result any story involving the Argentine is sure to attract a lot of attention.

Which leads us to an article published by talkSPORT on Friday that suggested that Tevez was ready to leave Manchester City and join Italian giants Inter Milan in the summer. It even went as far as to suggest that personal terms between Tevez and Milan had already been agreed upon. The source of this rumour can be traced back to Italian paper Corriere dello Sport.

It’s believed that the Argentine forward will sign a five-season deal with the club that will net him about £6m-a-year, but could rise to a sum closer to £10m-a-year thanks to a string of exorbitant bonuses and incentives.

City are currently paying their captain £250k a week (about £13m a year) but talkSPORT suggests that he’s become disillusioned with his time in England that he’s ready to take a price cut in order to obtain a move to Italy. A £40m price-tag has been slapped on Tevez, which, if anything, undervalues his worth to Manchester City.

It’s hard to say whether there’s any veracity to this rumour. I once believed that if Tevez was to leave Manchester City that he’d head back home to Argentina. There were reports earlier in the season that Tevez was dissatisfied with his lot in the Premier League because he was homesick. City acted quickly and gave their star player some time off. Instead of visiting his wife and children in Argentina, however, Tevez took a short break in the Mediterranean with his model girlfriend. His motives and desires remain entirely unclear.

It would be a surprise to nobody if Carlos Tevez left Manchester City at the end of the season. But whether he’s bound for Inter Milan is another question entirely. Despite his importance to City, I have little doubt that the club will adapt and evolve following his absence. It’s not like they don’t have the cash or potential to attract big name players.

If and when Tevez leaves, the club will be ready to deal with the consequences. Given that this rumour has come courtesy of TalkSPORT, I wouldn’t pay it too much credence – where the Argentine will be playing next season is still very much up in the air.

I smell a rat too on this. I think he went to Milan when injured because he though we were going to get beat by United. He may be getting treated there but I sense the involvement of Keith Ian and Arthur somewhere. We proved against Stretford that we can beat the best with a true team effort and without Tevez. We looked more balanced with Johnson wide right and harder up top with Balotelli and Toure bursting through. I have no fears if he goes. His main commitment is to himselfand the 3 people mentioned earlier

i gotta tell u. I was 95 percent sure he would go to inter milan at the end of the season when he got his transfer request rejected in the winter but i think he will stay coz inter bought pazzini.
